Arent' you supposed to AVOID hitting those cones? I guess it'd be better to hit those than a retaining wall!

 

I think most autocrosses tend to put all other vehicles other than a spec miata at a disadvantage.

 

I agree with Jas. This Miata had very few mods beyond a rear deflector and track tires. It was VERY fast!

 

Honestly going back to autocrossing after doing only trackdays. Autocross has become boring to me.

 

I agree the Miata's do very well at autocross.But this weekend I saw one of the fastest cars to hit an autocross it was a lotus with track tires and the driver was an Instructor.I attached a course map .My first run was 57sec and my last was 52.3.The Lotus did it in 43.

yup you need lots of grip up front and the car to rotate easily adn precisely at an autocross. I run 275s all around on my e46 m3, and the bite is phenominal.

 

They're just too heavy IMHO for that.. You can still have fun but don't expect too much... They fair a lot better on the road course (even then quite heavy).

 

True and stipped out 914s that weigh less than my left arm with 3.6s in them...

Talking about fast cars that autocross, around here there is this one Dodge Viper GTS.

 

porsches are not meant to be in a parking lot, chasing cones at 40-60mph...
get off your butt and get to a track so you can really learn and enjoy your car.

 

Your right ,Next year I plan to PDE,Auto cross is a stepping stone for me.
But don't knock Autocross the feeling you get when you can control your car sliding into turns and make it without hitting a cone is a great feeling.

a friend of mine has autoX'd his gt3 many times, and has done fine. sometimes the cones jump up and run in front of his car...ahem* but don't they on all of us from time to time?

last autoX this season is on nov. 11th, a sunday. come on out! i haven't missed on yet!

wear a wig, then nobody will recognize you if you do anything embarrassing. besides, it's ALL been done before! no worries! todd went for his first time and loved it!
