Clear Bra question

Question about a clear bra. I will be picking up my white GT3 soon. Dealer offered to install a clear bra. They can do the partial or whole hood. Never had this on any of my cars before. Any disadvantages of having it done, paint fade, discoloration, moisture trap, etc.. in the long term?
Thanks.

If you do any tracking or highway driving, I would suggest going for the bra. It is noticable and does yellow over time (lifetime replacement warranty though), but offers a great amount of protection to the front end from chips, parking dings, etc. The largest issue to be warned of is have a good installer perform the install, and avoid any wax or cleaning polish buildup in the edges of it. If you do that, you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Be VERY careful having it installed on a white car. The line is very visible.

I have a white gt3 also. I track the car so want the protection. I went with the venture shield
product over the 3M. From what ive seen the 3M has a slight tint to it. The venture shield seems more clear, less coloration. This is important on a whit car. I also did the entire front hood and front fenders. You really cant tell its on with the right install. Use the best installer you can find. See his work 1st.

I don't track my car, however I do drive back roads and have been known to be somewhat aggresive at times. I have the clear bra installed on both Porsches. I only wish I had done the entire front end on the 3 as I have some chips on the upper parts of both the hood and fenders. (I think most of them are a result of chasing SolidRS up Old Hwy-66 in s. Or.)This is a case where more is better, IMHO!!

I really recomend the clear bra, I think the benefit would be a little less on a white car since the chips on paint are much more noticeable on darker colors. I just had my installed on my black 3 at Auto Supershield in Boca.
I had it installed in my other car ( Interlagos blue M3) it was a great peace of mind to have the protection, a year ago after I had to paint the front bumper and hood, the guy at the shop convince me not to reinstall the clear bra, he said that for that price he could repaint the parts in a couple of years and that the bra affected the look, I really regret to follow his advise, now I have many chips on the paint, I'm planning to have it paint again and reinstall the clear bra.

It really has gotten out of hand, I'm sure some people have actually covered the whole car.
If you think about where you actually get stone chips it becomes a much simpler process.
The reality is that the area's covered by the plastic film do not look as good as the uncovered area's so it should be kept to a minimum.

Oak i see your point, however if you were purchasing a used car and it was re-painted would you want the price to be lower?. I know one of the first guy's to wrap the whole car(enzo)due to the VERY high cost of re-painting carbon fiber.

The vast majority of chips happen on the front bumper, lower part of the hood and on a 911 in front of the rear wheels. I also did strips behind the wheels and the headlights. I don't like how it looks but i feel i covered the problem area's and any more would just be overkill, not to mention the fact that it will look like crap.

Here's a few pics of a VentureShield install I performed. On a white vehicle, the film WILL dis-colour over time...and if someone tells you it won't, their lying! I've done this long enough to know, it comes with the territory.

I had a seal gray 997 C2S and the clear bra covered half the hood. That was no problem on the seal gray color, but with the new white GT3 I went with covering the entire hood with the clear bra, just so there would not be a dirt line across the middle of the hood where the clear bra covering ended.
