Help Removing front turn signal light housing

I needed to change a front turn signal bulb and I am following the directions in the owners manual to slide a card, but the only thing that happens is the card gets bent and dented. Does anyone have ideas on how to get this damn thing out? I tried searching with no results.

hmmm....is that card the same one as the roadside assistance one? I think that was all my GT3 came with, and that seems to bend. I will try to locate another one.
