What are the main differeces between a 04 gt3 and a standard 996.
How different is suspension from a 996 with pss9 and gt3 sway bars?
How many were made in o4?
I have the chance to upgrade on a good deal but still lots more cash so want to make sure it is worth it!
Thanks

1) Completely different motor/ Dry sump (GT1), revs to 8250 (This is the biggest difference and hard to replicate with a wet sump 3.6.
2) Factory adjustable Coil overs/ different suspension parts/ Bigger sway bars
3) Different transmission with better gearing/ Limited slip, different clutch & Flywheel
4) No sunroof, 200 lbs lighter
5) No rear seats or seat belts
6) Bigger Brakes (Bigger than 996TT brakes)
7) No PASM or TC
Around 960 of them were made in 04 and 05 (96 of them in 05) for the North American market. You could pick up a decent 04 with miles in the high $60's.

Thanks for cleaning that up. As a novice track driver should I be afraid of not having an electronic nanny on board?
Car I am looking at is almost perfect, one small paint chip (1/8 round) touched up on the drivers door. Alcantra headliner and steering wheel, 15k miles, PCCB. They are asking 75k what do you think?

The difference is night and day as Luis has mentioned. I sold mine to the stealer for $72K in order to make room for the new 3. Mine's MSRP was $112k and it had ceramics.

how many miles were on it?
not at all, just keep your inputs smooth and progressively move up to the limit.
