ehem...screw you guys and your flappy paddles...I say they make a GT4 for you guys and the gt3 should weigh 2800 lbs, have a 7 spd sequential (controlled via counsel...not paddles), a 9k redline with the same 415 hp flat6, pole positions, half cage with appropriate 6pt harness', most sound deadening out, lexan windshield, race abs system, Dry, Rain and NO TC options and some legit r comps...and NO markup. If AM can do it with their V8 vantage N24, Porsche can do it too...
If you think that makes the car a "cup" car, think much of the performance but without the trans and engine rebuilds.

Sound like a race car? Yup...got a problem with that?

Only 2 things I would change on my 997 GT3

+50 lb/ft torque
Shorter gears

Everything else is perfect. Best P-car I've owned in 28 years of Porsche ownership

That's all it needs, a V8.
If the transmission yields better times then why not, i mean this car is built for the best track performance, a good transmission that will allow for that cannot be so bad. I guess its just hard to accept change. There will be a time where true sports car will no longer be a true manual.
