Autoweek claims $281K US for GT2 !
You can't take Euro prices and just convert them to US$. Currency hedging programs are in place to keep prices more stable than exchange rate volatility would allow.
Why do you say that??
The 997 GT2 is almost as fast as a Ferrari Enzo. It's insanely fast in straight-line performance, running low 11s if not high 10s in the 1/4mile... And there's no need to even talk about how amazing it is around corners. This is one of the fastest cars ever around Nurburgring. For what you get, $200k really is a bargain.

If you have $200k, buy a used CGT, FFS, because if you factor in the depreciation on the GT2 it's gonna cost you about the same. And which would you rather have? Scuderia makes more sense than a GT2 for the same reason, also.
Because, haven't you laughed at the girl who pays $3000 for a handbag? It's what happens when the market cares more about the price than the value.

Not saying CGTs are 200k; saying if you you have $200k you may as well go all the way and get a CGT, before prices get higher.
A Scud at $300k makes no sense, but if you can get one at MSRP or a little over, makes way more sense than a GT2. Even a Scud at $300k, in 2 years you lose less money than the GT2. Cost of ownership should be more of a consideration than Sticker Price.

The 281000 is exchange rate valuation since the Euro dollar is worth 1.45 US dollar. 190,000X1.45=275500 or about 281,000. US prices are subsidized for market reasons. Enjoy our market being Porsches' biggest single nation breadbasket. That's why people who buy American priced cars are not allowed to sell them over back to Europe when taking Euro delivery without posting a bond that is refunded after export to the US.
+1. In fact, that's exactly what I did. Now very happy w/ the Stradale.

so true.. wait till next year when it's worth $120k...
