What a silly thing for Porsche to say. I'm sure if they wanted to, they could find a slower CGT time and could make the claim that the gt2 is 10 seconds or even half a minute faster.....

It's the right thing for Porsche to say. They are trying to sell GT2's now, not CGT's.

"
I think it is more likely that Mr Saurma, and everyone else, has far more comfort and experience driving 911s than they do driving CGTs at the limit, never mind the $$$ that are always in the back of their brains when out in someone else's car

I doubt PAG will need ring times to get their GT2 to sell. I dont think its right to deliberately downplay one of your offerings to make another look better. Besides, I dont think people are cross shopping those two models, as most people could either buy both or afford niether.

Evo meant to say that Porsche believes that the CGT is 5 sec. faster. On one run WR did the Ring in the CGT at 7.28. Saurma's time in the GT2 is 7.33. I believe his time in the CGT was the same.

My problems aside with the CGT, if anyone believe the GT2 will go around ANY track in a better time than the CGT is smoking something. The CGT remains Porsche's champion.

BTW, WR was quoted after taking the GT2 around for the first time as saying it is the best car he has ever driven. I suspect if pressed he will say he meant BEST 911 he has driven. There is no way he can make that claim given he helped design and develop the CGT and the CGT performance parameters.

One thing i will say. If the RS is still selling at near $180,000 and assuming you can get the GT2 for $190,000 why would anyone buy the RS?

If it does the Ring 5 seconds faster than the CGT, I think it will be the king for quite some time. But if it is dethroned... That's life... You can't be on top forever.

Either way, it's an amazing vehicle... It's gorgeous and it has mind-blowing performance.
