i don't see 325/30/18 listed for the hoosier's.as i've been told their are 6mm wheel spacers on the rear of the gt3 and the gt3rs,if this is the case, maybe remove them.or replace with norrower spacers .where have you found hoosiers in this size?

Adam,
The Hoosier 245/35-18s should work fine in front. Heat cycles are a totally different matter and R6s reward proper heat cycling plus neat and precise driving. The one problem that I have found with the R6s is that if you overdrive and overheat them by sliding them too much they get greasy, go away and cease to be competitive. On the other end of the spectrum you can drive the wheels of the Michelin slicks and once the temperature drops back to normal operating range the come right back. To complicate matters a little more the R6 tread design has some built in camber that allows you to run less negative camber than slicks, which is a big plus if you normaly drive your GT3 on the street.
Good luck,
Manny

I have not had any problems at all with the CCW 14’s and have already tried them with Hoosier R6, Hoosier Grand Am slicks and Michelin slicks. I like them and quite a few knowledgeable track junkies are running them on their GT3s and Z06s in the southeast. They are light, balance well and are built to precise custom specs providing a perfect fit. To put them in the proper perspective the CCW finish is not comparable to other premium US built wheels like HRE, Fikse, Forgeline, but for track use they are a very good value and provide similar performance at a fraction of the cost. If $$$ is not an issue then you can’t beat Dymags or BBS race wheels.

#1 NT-01 are not faster than MPSC, probably a second slower. Maybe closer shaved, but then you could shave the MPSC and get your time back.

#2 BFG R1 are supposedly faster than R6 (which are faster than the MPSC), also the V710 from kuhmo are rumored to be faster.

#3 I dont think there is a both faster and longer living tire than the MPSC.

What about this!

Can I run used slicks on my car if I still have a stock suspension?

A fellow member has offered some used Grand Am Gt slicks and I was wondering if I could run these.

You need to be running at least -2.5 camber front and rear to run slicks or you'll cord them fast. I think the stock GT3 suspension is stiff enough to prevent too much body roll and cord the tires.

Adam - Not recommended, but possible. Do a search on r-list for more info about issues. Here is one thread ... http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...ghlight=slicks

Tires

Thanks Ryan, The Slicks are off the table. I do not want damage my car and I was unsure if the stock suspension was stiff enough to handle it.

I have narrowed my choices to staying with the MPSC or going to the Hoosiers. I will probably only attend 5 events (4-3 day, and 1-1 day) this year and I am hoping that they will last the year.

So that would be 39 total heat cycles on the tires.

I trailer to the track and have a second set of wheels and tires for the street. I may do some auto-x events but no more than 5 or 6.

The goal of lower lap times will have to be attained by learning to be a better driver. I am not ready to put suspension on the car, besides I think Porsce did a fantastc job.

The quest continues, the information and opinions have been greatly appreciated.

Ryan, get ready for March! You need to be 3 seconds to pass me, if I stay the same.

Later,
Adam

Sorry, the last time I reviewed you G2X data you were running 2:12 at VIR. I ran a 2:10 at VIR, so if you get 3 seconds faster you will be at 2:09.

But, I have spent the winter studying my video of VIR and I have picked a few spots that I can go faster. I will be working on those and hopefully get at least 2 seconds faster.

I am getting a G2X soon and will need your help with the set-up on the laptop.
