Reviving an old thread...

Just installed the Tubi straight pipes on the Carrera GT. Reason for choosing the Tubi over others is that it is warranted by my Porsche dealer. As many in this thread has said, the car looses some of the F1 soundtrack of the stock system. But the F1 sound can only be heard by bystanders or when I am driving through a tunnel anyways. In the cabin, the stock exhaust is quite quiet unless you use high revs.

With the straight pipes, the high pitch tone is gone. Sound is now less refined. It is loud, but not as lound as I expected. But it sounds absolutely mean, like what a race car sounds like I would imagine. Now I can really hear the exhaust while I am driving. Just absolutely insane revving it in 1st - 3rd gears to the redline, very hardcore sound. I feel that the throttle response has improved, and there is a bump in power too. Rev matched downshifts sounds way cool, you hear this popping sound.

Someone who drove behind me said it sounded very loud at full revs, but in cabin, crusing at 5th and 6th gear is quite tolerable. There is not much droning and quite enough.

Overall, I think the new brutal soundtrack and an apparent performance advantage is worth it, even with the loss of the original sound track.

On my CGT I like the stock sound as I mainly use it on the street, and I feel that Porsche did a phenomenal job in designing the exhaust system and the way it sounds. It's a high pitched sound that reminds you of a toned down F1 car. However, on my RSR I like having the loud racing exhaust, and it's not offensive because it's a track car.

I will be honest, the straight pipe sound is not for everyone. Personally I love it. The stock exhaust tone is sweet, but to me the car needs to sound a little more angry.

That is where we step in.

Clearly this guy knows what hes talking about

In some instance you may loose torque depending on the application, but HP will NOT be lost.

Second of all as soon as I purchase a CGT, AWE will have a sale. The CGT should have come factory with the straight pipes. The most incredible, amazing, phenomenal, god like, epic sound known to man. I still remember hearing the pipes for the first time on the AWE website and just giggling like a 12yr old school girl.

Cheers to AWE for a making a car that already looks and drives out this world, finally sound the same way.
