what about just on the basis of the cars themselves...
let's say that you were given the choice to have only one car for FREE... but as part of the deal, you had to sign a contract that you would never sell the car.
So you'd need to choose purely on the basis of which car you like more, nevermind price, resale value, etc...
Personally, I'd have to say the Scud...

Same here.

My 599 incurred 2000 miles in five months. My former 430 Coupe had 4800 miles on it when traded for the 08 430 Spider the latter which is only three weeks old and has 700 mile on it already. All flawless, problem free, miles. And I never break my F cars in. I drive them hard right out of the box.
My 997 GT3, well, I didn't get to drive that much because I got rid of it due to various chronic problems. My 996 GT2 was purchased back from Porsche on a lemon law claim (tried to work it out amicably first). My wife's Boxter was a joke in terms of reliability.
My 97 993 Turbo.... Bullet proof! Solid! My Speedster... Keeps on ticking. It's just a tough little f$cker. Porsche until '98: Glory years of a great company.
In sum, Porsche's reputation for quality is a sad remnant of what it was. And yet, on the other hand, Ferrari's reputation for quirky and shoddy build quality is a thing of the past. (The paint on F cars could be improved, but the cars are reliable for the most part, and they want to be driven hard!)
I'm taking delivery of a Scud in a few weeks from Lake Forest Sports Cars -- yellow, no silly stripe, yellow calipers, alcantara racing seats (large), yellow stitching, etc. Can't wait!
I will drive the snot out of that car. I would love to have a GT2 as well, but paying $50K over does not appeal to me, as that amount represents what it's going to cost to send my daughter to Notre Dame next year!
I am on here late but what exactly is the premise of the thread?
Are we comparing cosmetics or performance between the GT2 and Ferrari Scud?
IMO the GT2 will rip the lungs out of the Scud in performance measures.
The Porsche is infinitely more dependable than a Ferrari again IMO.
TheCreditMan you must be the unluckiest guy in the world regarding Porsches. Curious, what were the chronic problems with the 997 GT3 that you only had for a short time?
The comparison of the 997 GT3RS and the Scud is not a fair analysis but the GT2 is a whole different glass of water.
Cheers, GT3Ranger

My GT3 had a leak which developed a week after taking delivery. It had a nasty, irritating creaking sound originating from the dash which baffled the dealer. And it had an ABS Warning Light Fault (which in fairness was quickly fixed).
By the way, what modern Ferrari ownership experience do you possess upon which you base your hyperbolic proclamations such as: Porsche is not just more reliable, it is "infinitely" more reliable than Ferrari! Infinitely!
