Stuttgart - Factory Tour

Who has been on it? Is it worthwhile or just ok? I would probably have to go out of my way to book a flight from Paris to Stuttgart for the day but will do so if is worthwhile. Planning on being there in July.

Do it!! I did the tour about 2 yrs ago, and it was awesome... see thread (below) w/ pics I took same day at the museum next door (no cameras allowed inside factory)... later in the thread I describe some of the factory tour I experienced...

It is a must for any Porsche die-hard.

I was there in Dec 2004 and it was probably final inspiration in me deciding to own a Porsche. I think the museum has been improved since then.

I did it in July 1999. We saw and heard GT3s going out for their road tests.... I've wanted one since and finally got one last August. On the day we were there, they were doing a run of prototype or preproduction Turbos, so we only got to see the engine build and upholstry areas. It was still cool.

Last year I collected there my first 911 and I can only recommend to enjoy the tour in every minute. I was very upset thinking where my new car should be, and missed a lot of explanations, but this year I will repeat it for sure... going there for a new 911!

BTW, Porsche shop is great, but take care because the seller is an italian lady with perseverant skill of selling. I returned back to Barcelona with the car fed up of presents and merchandising...

My wife's family lives 25 minutes from the factory so I go often. I don't know if I would make a special flight to see it. If you have a couple days you could do many cool things in the area in addition to the tour.(Nurburgring)
Rich
Just reread your post.
I would rent a car in Paris, drive to see the factory, then head to the ring, then up to Spa for a day, then drive back to paris.

It really is a great experience, and I'd highly recommend it. It'll give you much more of an appreciation for serious lengths Porsche goes for perfection.

You might have trouble if you're doing it anytime really soon, though...
