My first CGT drive coming soon/EVAN
Well as mentioned before a business associate of mine purchased the CGT from Braman on 6/14. I guess he had some cash left over so he also had the first Bently GT delivered to him at the same time
I would love to see the sales commission on those two sales. Jack Miller who owns the Ale House chain took a limo down to the dealer to buy them and ended up leaving the CGT there due to the lengthy delivery process and drove the Bently GT home.
Hey Evan, I know you have a little animosity towards the sales guys there, that guy Chip maybe?? so you have first hand knowledge of the bravado of some of them by holding out for the first 1 Million offer, which was then knocked down to the first $750K offer and so on.. well Evan you will be happy to know Jack played hard a$$ with them and walked out the door exactly $408K poorer. That was the price on the window sticker and thats all he was willing to pay, good job, I would never pay one dollar over MSRP. I remember that cuz of the Dinan S2 race track pkg on mine they were demanding $7K over the already $17K S2 pkg. I said *** em , I opened up my back pack w/ about $70K in 100 dollar bills and volia the car was mine.
Oh yeah Jack got the Bently GT for MSRP as well $198,970.00, all in all not a bad way to spend $606,970 on a Sunday afternoon.

good for him, sounds like he is going to have a fun summer!! i never have understood the deal with paying in cash money.....is it a total ego thing or what??? not flaming, just curious as i run into it from time to time when it is completely unnecessary.

As far as the cash issue, I always pay cash for big ticket items. I have a medical background in psychiatry and the sight and smell of cash envokes a type of pavlovian response in humans. (esp. car salesholes), not that their considered humans
. I have used this tactic a number of times to great success. I recently purchased The all Gold Rolex YachtMaster w/ mother of Pearl Face and diamond bezel. It listed at Hamiltons for about $25,400.00 I chased it for a long time dealing w/ Julie the sales mgr. (and chased her as well
) Well after 3 months w/o any movement in our positions my wife said to pull out the heavy artillery. So off to the bank where I had my banker pull out exactly $20,000.00 in brand spanking new $100.00 bills and had them bundeled in stackes of $1000.00 w/ gold bands around them. I threw them into my Mickey Mouse backback
asked to go into the back office and simply opened the bag. The smell about knocked us over and the look on their face w/ all that laid out on the desk, well I walked out w/ the watch for $20K tax incl.Last edited by Tommy Vercetti; Jun 26, 2004 at 11:04 PM.
Hey just to shed some light on the facts regarding the Carerra GT the car was sold above MSRP.....in addition the client did come in his limo; however the limo left without Mr. Miller. It seems Mr. Miller thought he could get home faster in his new GT which is what he went home in. In regards to the Bentley GT that he purchased for his wife....oh by the way she also drove that car home. MSRP on that vehicle is $160,000.00. I know all of this because I sold Mr. Miller his Carerra GT and delivered it. Yeah, but you are right on, with the smell of money CHECK, CASH or CREDIT CARDS , SMELLs GREAT TO ME.
"Huh?? Well then he worked an exceptional deal, I was told it was $440K which is where all the car mags had it pegged. Great job getting it below retail , dont you think?"
How on earth could someone be so gullable to think ANYONE bought a CGT for 15% under MSRP when most of them are selling for $100k over? Braman (the kings of gouge) would never have sold something for 15% under MSRP (dealer profit is only about 5% on this car!) that they could have easily wholesaled for $50k over.

Cash is king. I have a friend that owns a high end audio/video store and they just do not budge below a certain price.
But when you get em in the right mood and pull out green, all of a sudden you just might have a great unheard of deal..
In fact, I hvae my eye on a Marantz 50" plasma that i saw the floor...gonna go in armed with 20's...sometimes even better than hundreds...more weight..

First of all:
Are you calling my car rice???
As for the CGT:
I have no problem with the salesman that sold the car, he is one of the few.... As I said in another post, I think they did the right thing by selling the car local... I am also glad to hear he payed sticker (or right around it) because of Bramans rep. of selling for crazy prices over list...
So now you have to get me a ride too
Evan
PS-I was up at our new house yesterday and its really coming along slow....god knows how long till I am up there

Confused and annoyed
If he is a business associate of yours (a close enough one that he would let you drive his $440K car) then why would you just not ask him how much he paid for the vehicle as opposed to spreading stories from the alleged salesperson who sold it to him? I understand that you are a new poster (and a bit of an overzealous one at that) but I doubt that you will impress anyone here with stories of hard-nosed negotiations that never occured, your alleged level of education, or how much cash you are foolish enough to carry around in a backpack. Most of the people here are at least somewhat successful in their lives or they would not be able to afford such amazing vehicles.
I don't mean to sound demeaning myself but these are the kinds of third-hand, embellished stories that I cannot stand reading on these forums. I just like to hang out and read about people's real life experiences with these cars and share a few of my own. I would have called B/S on this whole story had someone else not chimed in who claimed to be the real salesperson and set the story straight (a Carrera GT at $40K+ under MSRP...yeah right).
I am not a moderator of the board by any means but I would ask that you you refrain from using the F-word in your posts. This might be the norm at the BWM forums you hang out in (I know, I have been there) but we try to keep things a little cleaner in the Porsche chat-world.
Welcome to the board. Next time I would not try so hard.

Firstly , I dont ask people how much they pay for things. Its none of my nor your business. Be it cars, houses, or hookers. This info was provided to me "unsolicited" by an "overzealous carsaleshole". I was simply minding my own business waiting for an appraisal to come back on my coworkers 04 IS300, when this sales guy started carrying on about the CGT being sold. I was there only to keep my female friend from being fuked over by the sales staff. She is unhappy w/ her 2 week old IS and I recommended looking at a Boxster. I was wearing a Jupiter Ale house Tshirt so this guy just started going on and on about the sale. I thought it was interesting and figure it was worth posting. I made no claims on its truthfulness.
Secondly, everybody that buys a car has their own method of negoitiating down a price to where it can be mutually agreed upon by both parties. I just listed what has worked for me in the past, thats all, take it or leave it for what it is. If this cash method works for me , it may help someone else out in their future purchase, you really have no right to voice your opinion into how I do my business. I admit I am in no position to freely toss my money around so I have to cut corners where I can.
Thirdly I didnt realize you were so infatuated w/ me in the diction and content of my posts, now that I am aware Mother Theresa is on my a$$ I will be more cognicent of my editorial content.

Tommy, no need to apologize I just wanted to set the record straight, and when your ready to trade your BMW come see me. Our dealership (Braman) has gone from 18th in the country to number 8 in a years time...this affords our clients a wide range of products. So, if it is a Turbo,or an X50 Turbo, or the GT2(which we have 3 to choose from) I'd love nothing more than to take you through the vehicles. P.S. grab a bite at the Jupiter Ale House to night(Monday) and you can say hi to Jack ,and check out the Carerra GT. Reagrds, Joe Ferguson
