Simplifying life: from Turbo to 04 GT3
Simplifying life: from Turbo to 04 GT3
Folks-
In the last 4 years, I have owned:
- '08 Cobalt Blue TT, 6 speed: great ceramic brakes, too heavy
- '07 Gt Silver TT, Tiptronic: ditto above, but add great acceleration
- '07 Red GT3: great car with added safety controls
- '05 Red GT3: great car, but did not modify
I just bought a very low milage Cobalt Blue '04 GT3, added new Porsche leather sport seats and harnesses, roll cage, free-flowing exhaust, and chip, and removed extraneous junk (weighs in at 2834 lbs). Could be lighter if i lost 50 lbs!
I just love this car, both on the street and the track. Even 12 hour trips to visit family have not been a problem. I like the "tin" feel of car, reminds of my old 911s - under-engineered. I guess with age comes senility. Not overwhelming power (not a Nissan GTR), just nimble and quick like my sports cars of old.
Thanks for letting me rave - Gerry

2834???? No fuel, no driver, no a/c, no heater, no radio, no wheels????
That is extremely light for that car...

Folks-
Stripped out most of the fabric (that stuff is very heavy), added lighter brakes, light exhaust, chipped, deleted AC, lightest wheels, etc.
Power to weight ratios-
My 996 GT3, Before 7.9, After 6.9.
997 GT3 7.4
Check the math - I could be wrong.
Kindest of regards - Gerry
