okay i got one more; i went out in a group 4 session and was the 4th car on pre grid.

with NASA in the advanced groups full on race cars can run as long as they behave and don't scare people; so in the grid were a 996GT3 cup; 996GT3RS; and an ex trans-am full tube frame corvette with at least 750 horse

so we go out and i'm in my little car kinda being a nuisance to these guys while they get fluids warm and tire temps.

again we get to the front straight at T-Hill and the raceguys go for it.

no exaggeration, the vette inhaled both the 996's and completed his pass on both before the end of the pit wall -- for those of you who know Thunderhill.

funny, the guy was just there testing.

his car was a little faster than mine :-)

avi8tir you are right. The M5 would have been a very different result.

I will probably see him again around town. When we talked, I asked him what he had in the car? His response was," alot of stuff and admitted to the SC. I would suspect he was spraying the juice.

A 997 TT would have also been good to have.
But as I said I was impressed with my GT3 how it held up considering it was so underpowered.

You guys would also be surprised that this car actually can handle, esp if you do some bits and pieces to it.

I've only done a bunch of bushings because I can't make up my mind on what springs/struts I want to go with (all my past cars I went through about 5-6 setups before I woudl get happy and I don't want to do that with this). I'm like a girl in a shoe store that can only buy one pair of shoes, this is the first car that hasn't had suspension in the first week of purchase i've owned.

I did a run with LuisGT3 and SuperD up in San Diego and they were very surprised by how well it kept up in the canyons

in all honesty, I doubt he was spraying....boost and spray is a lot on a LS2 motor winc ehte compression is pretty high. 590 whp sounds like a cam and SC

No I wasn't spraying, because I have no spray. Yes the gt3 kept up pretty well considering that I was letting off the throttle to let it catch up some. Soon enough I will be able to up the boost to about 12lbs from the current 7lbs. Then i should be in the 700rwhp territory.

The more I think about it and recall that morning, this guy pulled away from me like I was walking and he was running.
Now that I see he chimed in the forum I want to congratulate him and complement him on his GTO. The term GTO takes me back to high school days in the 60's (yes I'm an old fart) and one that came out called "The Jugde". We use to call them "goats". Raw hp back then.
Maybe see you around soon.
BTW we will have a private rental track night at Moroso in about 2 weeks.
A bunch of us local crazies are going to be out putting it on the pavementon the drag strip.
PM me if you are interested and I can set you up.

Gotta love good ol fashion pushrod V8. With a re-program they are almost undriveable. I've never been in anything that threw me back like my buddie's GTO.

Of course, I live in Indiana.....

Now you have to invite him to a road course and show what the 3 was meant to do.

Of course I would get my a@# handed to in any other respect other than a strait line race, especially by a fine machine such as the GT3. I never intended to compete with the likes of of porche. I just wanted a comfy weekend cruiser, it just ended up snowballing into a strait line rocket ship with awful brakes and mediocre handling.
