While driving to work in the GT3 (and going home are the only enjoyable parts of the day) I see 2 cars back on the on-ramp to I-75 a red sports car.
He looks agitated. Proceeds to drive by, getting on I-75 before he should.
I take the moment and follow right up onto to his rear bumper and let him know "I'm here". He accelerates and I downshift and get on it.
BTW forgot to say the car was a red Pontiac GTO (6.0 L). We are accelerating "ball out" and this car proceeds to gradually pull away from me. He made a 15' nose to tail distance into a 60' (approx. 20 yds.) as I ran up to 155 mph as the fast moment I checked.
Concern for jail time caused to let off.
I did not expect this at all. The traffic was clear and conditions were optimal.

We got off the same exit (coincidental) and pull over to talk.
Well I do not feel too bad that he pulled on as he did.
The car was supercharged and he told me it dyno'ed 590 rwhp.
He had me by approx. 200 rwhp. I am proud of my GT3.
All things considered the GT3 pulled like a monster. At first I was shocked until finding out the facts.
The guy was then the one in disbelief over how the GT3 hung in there.

This is an awesome car!

Maybe next time I can have a passenger and a video camera. That is if I still have this beast.

 

i love hearing about stories like these coz you show alot of class and respect for (adversary)lol...yet stay true to your own car. Love the effort and fun that we all should be having.... i mean isnt that what we bought these cars for anyways??

I dont have a gt3.. i had 996tt, but we are cousins....lol... in the porsche family...lol...

 

Nuts, the LS engines are fine pieces of work. I'd be interested to see you up against a stock LS2 Goat and see how the turn out is then. 400 ponies are quick as it is, throw in a supercharger and it's ridiculous.

Yeap, they can be beasts, even though they weigh in at close to 4000 lbs!

I made 370/370 to the wheels with just a canned tune! Ad long tube headers and a retune I will be looking at 400 rwhp.....ad a cam and depending on how aggressive anywhere from 430-480 rwhp

funny story, i had a similar thing happen to me; i was instructing a student in a Cadillac CTS-V and i informed him that we would do a lead-follow during our next session.

as we were on pre-grid (i gridded in front of him) he walks up to my me and says, "i'll take it easy on you on the straights." i said, "uh okay", and rolled my eyes

anyway he follows me for two laps, I waive him by and proceed to follow him. we do this for another two laps, and he's doing a good job

we come through turn 15 at Thunderhill and I am about a car length back; I guess he was feeling punchy 'cause he punched it must have pulled at least 6 lengths on me like it was nothing.

after the session ended he jwalks up and says, "hey I know you think I was joking about the straights"

i said, "yeah you're car is kinda fast" ; he says, "it should be; I got 580HP at the wheels" (about 650 at the crank)

 

I heard one that had the exhaust done. Not sure what else, I only heard it. It sounded incredible, had a deep, ballsy, demonic rumble. I was very impressed, they don't look to bad either. Good to see someone post a defeat instead of a kill.

 

Maybe smoked you on the straights but not on the bends

 

OK I will try. I got smoked in my boxster way back when, by an AMG something or other, who jumped me at a light. Not sure he could pull it off against the 3. But I am glad I enjoy tracking my car because I am pretty laid back on the street. I am always getting harassed however by every kid with a mustang.

Ive driven a non supercharged ls2 Holden and that went pretty well so i can imagine supercharged would haul ***!
