Installing Homelink in an RS
Installing Homelink in an RS
I was disappointed to see the RS does not come with a homelink garage opener system. The 997 GT2 does come with one....Does anyone know if its possible to get it installed in my RS?
Thanks
Thanks
The RS is not set up for it as far as the car being wired for it.
I have heard of some taking the internals out of a garage door opener and installing it up top where the buttons would go. I know for sure that the switches can be purchased. Thats all I got.

I agree with Paul. These cars don't have the wiring needed to just plug and play Homelink.

I tried this, but ended up getting a very small garage door opener and velcroed to front of mirror, where it can't be seen from the inside.
Also, if you don't like to see the plastic oval covers, replace them with the 997 Homelink switches. Suncoast has them.

Use the hot and ground wires in the dome light to power the board and then wrap it in shrink tubing or electrical tape. It can be wedge up in the space between the roof and the dome lights.
By using the OEM switches and hiding the board, the install is clean and there aren't any transmitters hanging from the sun visors.
