Yea, to pull out the win even though the ACR driven by Chris won 12 of 14 road course events is quite an accomplishment. Congrats! Let's hope Porsche builds a car that can run stock with the ACR soon! The jury is still out on the GT-R.

It seems that more people are buzzing about the tire compound on the Viper. At least on corvette forum. I guess it will have to come to light eventually as people buy the Viper spec PS2 from tire rack.

heres some stuff i wrote about my drive of the new GTR

so Tony and i kinda got to be buddys a lil last year during the onelap.. and this year we were hanging out a good bit... and he told me i could drive the GTR...... at first i figured he would hop in and we would do a 5 min drive.. up the road and back... but. he just gave me the key and said have fun.... this is at CMP in kershaw SC... i know the area pretty good.. as ive drivin alot of street cars on and around the track.... and i know of a perfect road to test the new GTR out....

so there i was... walking to the new GTR... with the key.. all by myself.. almost like its mine.....

driving it slow in a parkinglot.. is really does feel big... weaving in a parking garage.. or a tight city street.. you could run into a lil bit of a problem...... and when the car is next to a normal sized sportscar... it really looks big..

BUT when driving it on the road.. i noticed none of this.... and the general feeling of the car isnt 'big'

ideling the gearbox rattles like a lightweight flywheel and clutch would.... free rev is pretty fast.. not sooper fast....

the whole drive-ability of the car is fantastic.... it would be a great daily... alltho the "comfort" mode on the shocks settings... isnt a whole lot softer then R mode.... the feel is pretty close actually.. with a little more body roll....

the screen is pretty cool... it was difficult to read and understand at first..... my R34 NISMO unit is easier... i like the Gmeter display better... along with some of the other stuff.. in the 34... alltho the new one has alot more 'stuff'.... while doing spirited driving im not quite sure you will be able to be getting real time info... your passenger will tho.. as they dont hafta worry about driving....

i didnt want to mess with the seat because Tony had it setup for him... im 6'5' and felt i was sitting up extremely high.. but im sure the seat could be lowerd... altho the pass side cant be i was told... but the inside of the car has tons of room... a person much taller then me would be comfortable... those lil japanese guys must feel like they are driving Mybach or something....

the overall feel of the buttons and everythign is great.. clean and crisp.... feels European.. but i would like to see more options in the intr... as it is kinda plain...

the car is very fast and very smooth.... in 1st gear it holds the engine power back untill about 4k rpms.. not turbo lag...... im sure its just easier on the drive line... so when u stomp on it.. at first... nothing really happens.. then you get a surge of power.... and your into 2nd gear pretty soon after that.... it gets to 100 pretty good.. but then after that doesn't pull as nicely.... the transmission is wonderful... i drive a sequential in the Pcar.. its a mechanical sequential.. flat to floor up shifts with straight cut gears... it doesn't get much faster then that... but the GTR feels just as fast...... instant gear change upon pull on the paddle shift.... the down shifts are nice and smooth.. but a tiny bit slow after the pull on the down shift paddle....

braking is probably what the car did the worse... it did stop fine... but its very heavy and even tho it has HUGE Brembos... theres only so much you can do.. they just didnt feel crisp.... i think with a nice aggressive pad.. they will be perfect tho.... they look awsome. thats for sure....

i just happen to know where a twisty road is.. so i go straight there..... its a series of 2nd gear turns... almost 90 degree.... with some elevation change.... i stuffed it into the corner and it took everything.... then i was on power with the rear coming out a little bit.... i opened up the steering just a little. (kinda like counter steer) and it kep the slip angle all the way out of the corner... i was like 'DAM'.. out loud in the car... it actually felt like the car was grabbing the road.... it was total compliance.. from the tires to the shocks and springs.. to the awd drive train... it was great... i was stoked and turned around and hit the corners a bunch more times....

then i accidentally figured out launch control... kinda....

just so you guys know.... heres what i did... both shocks and shifter on R... then hold the TC button down and... then hold brake and rev engine... usually it will only rev up to about 2k rpms... but now it will go to around 6k..... and as soon as you let your foot off the brake... about half a sec later... the clutch hits in 1st gear. and BOOM.. instantly off... it got my stomach pretty good... the big pull of Gs....... well over a G.... this is where the car sprints to 100mph very very fast.... i have no doubt i ran a 11sec pass right there on the street...

overall i was totally impressed.... i know its been hyped.. but it really is what the magazines have been saying.... ive never drivin a street car that felt like that... that didn't have any bad tendency's.... that just did what you asked it... i think the biggest problem is the overheating of its tires after a couple of laps.. as the car is just to heavy and produces to much heat....

it was awsome....

heres what i wrote comparing it to my R34...

well.. ive drivin both r34 and r35 stock for stock... and i can tell you that the 34 doesn't even come close to the performance.... first of all.. it has 280hp.. and little tires.... and at this point.. the design is 10 years old...

i have close to about 25k mods into my car... and of course was comparing both of them.... The only thing that the new one does much better then mine is handling.. mostly power down... mine doesn't use its power as well getting it to the wheels... the handling of the R35 is better... i think mostly due to the coilovers i have.... which i plan to change one day.. i have non ajd shocks.. they are Beilstein... but the spring rates and shock are off....

my car is faster in a straight line.... as it is making over 600awhp... but the powercurve isnt nearly as good as the new one... soooo.. till 100mph.. i could see both the cars pretty much even... then mine would pull...

i have stoptechs.. so the braking is fairly close.... my car is a little lighter.. but has less tire..... the R35 brakes seem to be its weakest point.... i felt as if it could brake better... but i guess its stock pads.. and im sure they were worn a little.... the braking of it wasnt very crisp....

i didnt get into any highspeed stuff in the r35.. so i cant talk about aero... but the 34 has a ajd rear wing.... and i have a nice splitter.... also under body carbon diffuser and such... as well as the r35 has...

the R35 is MUCH easier to drive then my car... as the awd system takes a little longer to react.... in yhe 34 its not to hard to be into a rwd induced oversteer.. then the next thing you know your in a pretty big slide but you awd now... and you better hold on....

1 lap to 1 lap i think my 34 would be faster... BUT.. over a 10 lap race.. i think the 35 would be faster.. assuming it doesn't waist its tires... which seems to be happening to Tony.. because the car is so heavy...

sooo..... with 25k mods... if we are just talking about speed... you could make a 34 much faster... but if your talking about a good all around car... daily drivable and fast and reliable on a road course... i think you would need about 25k to make a 34 equal to that of a stock 35.....

The Nurburgring 24 is this weekend. The track where the GT-R ran a 7:29 and where Nissan spent thousands of hours developing the car. This is a great "real world" opportunity for them to run the car in, and I heard they were planning to have a few GT-R's in the race. However, the GT-R does not show up on the entry list. What gives??

Because they're not developed to ALMS/LMS specs . .

Great write up. Thanks! Hopefully HC will see the light some day. He gave the rest of us Pcar owners a bad wrap.
