If you think about it the GT-R doesnt have any choice but to be heavy.

2x2 Seating
DSG
AWD
Huge Power Seats
20" runflats (have got to weigh a ton, the wheels are light though)
Electronic aids

Add that to a chassis size that has never been small and there is no choice but to be very heavy. I'm sure they made it as light as they could, but cars with lots of gadgets will weigh a lot as will the 997 TT when they get the PDK to work in it. Will be in the 3700 lbs range.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I haven't seen the car in person, but I assumed the back seat area was pretty small. I was a little shocked when I saw the weight after reading about the numbers it was putting down.

It will be interesting to see what some of the modded GTR's will do. You would think it would be pretty easy to drop about 500lbs.

500 lbs is a bit optimistic. You are talking about a full gutting and CF body panels and such. This is a BIG car.
