What is the actual HP of the GT3
I have numerous older publications that state the GT3's horsepower at 381. Now, in recent publications, the horsepower is listed as 375. Is this the same deal as the Mazda RX8 where after people bought the car it was revealed that the HP was lower than advertised? This became enough of a problem causing Mazda to give a $500 service and parts credit to all owners in addition to accepting returns if a buyer wanted to return the car!
6HP is not that much, but 381 does sound better.

Porsche lists the GT3 as having 280 kW of power. What you are seeing in the different horsepower numbers is kW-SAE versus kW-DIN.
280 kW = ~380 Hp DIN
280 kW = ~375 Hp SAE
The Turbo has ~415 Hp SAE or ~420 Hp DIN, and the C2 (etc) has 315 Hp SAE or 320 Hp DIN.
You see a lot of U.S. auto magazines (and even PCNA) getting the two numbers mixed up, but to be correct (when comapring two cars) the same standard should be used.
If you're talking to someone who doesn't know the difference, the DIN number "sounds" better.

Thank you for the clarification. I do understand the difference between DIN and SAE. What I did not understand, and you made clear to me, is that these measurements were interchanged within publications. Usually a manufacturer is pretty careful on the information released so the facts are accurately disseminated and used by the journalists. (At least it was that way when I worked with a manufacturer.)
Thanks for the reply.
