Button Willow, 7/22/04. A track day in at 107º
Tire wear from yesterday..... did any of you guys happen to notice that running clockwise really tore a lot of rubber off your front lefts?
Seem that most of the 'hard' turns were to the right, especially 2.
Also, Kevin, did you happen to notice my times at all? I am guessing if the GT2 was in the 2.12 range I must have been quite a bit slower, as there were so many power straights in that config.

Gee, I had a certain Blue GT-2 running pretty consistantly in the 2:11 to 2:13 range by my watch and eyeball method. I found this impressive as I know what a beast a GT-2 is on the track.
I know exactly what my laptimes were as I was running a HotLap Timer. Let's just say that the camber changes I made have made a difference.

your car is Sweet!!!as for weight the US CS is 2838 [euro way lighter!!!!] w/o fuel a huge 25g tank/500 miles cruising range... and my reference was vs. the 360... my GT2 was 3175 dry weighed at Andial. The CS has by far, that is BY FAR, the best bumpy road real world handling i know of.... the RS and the 2 and 3 all have fabulous grip and amazing handling on tracks and smooth surfaces but are much less excellent on my daily nasty roads at speed, as you have heard me comment. [ i rely on my 3 UK CS/RS friends who own both for that comparison, the 2 and 3 i compared myself].
and these euro monsters report their CS's much more stable above 150 than their 2's and RS's as well. i can not confirm this yet.
the F ceramic/carbon brakes are amazing, and no one has had any issues althought the highest mile CS i know of is 11,000 with 4,000 track. he has replaced his pads twice and his front tyres 3 X!!!!!!! i can't comment with only 1300 miles

Seriously - you should consider getting a HotLap timer like the ones Jack and I are using - really a great unit because you can glance down every time you complete a lap and see exactly if that line you changed or a different gear you used was faster or not. What's really funny to me is I would never do a lap without some kind of mistake - different mistakes yet I would turn laps that were with tenths of each other lap after lap.
I really don't think the GT-2 is at an advantage at BW. Ok, there are long straights but there are also lots of slow corners. Richard and I were both laughing about the difficulty we were having getting the power down in the last corner before the esses but I'll bet he wasn't using full throttle like I was! Those GT-2 are beasts! If we run with the Bus Stop section next time we can further hulimate those GT-2! LOL.
I haven't even looked at my tires. I'll do that tonight but I would guess you are probably right about the wear.
My best time for the day was a full second faster then last time we were there. Since it was 15 degrees hotter (at least) I'm pretty happy to have gone faster - I guess the camber changes helped.
On my last session I was pissed at myself for all the mistakes I had made with first Lorenzo and then with Ian in the car. I was leaving my breaking too late - especially on turn 3. My best time with those guys in the car I think was 2 or 3 seconds slower then when I was alone. So in my last session I concentrated on braking earlier and keeping my corner speed up - amazingly my time began getting better and better. I guess there is something to this "slow in, fast out stuff".
I love these track days - every time I learn something. And it really is so much fun!

Track days are so much fun when you get the chance to experience different cars and drive and ride with other people. I really enjoy that.

Watt-Thanks a lot. Now that I got a ride in the Stradale I can't sleep at night. Cold sweats. My wife and my financial planner aren't happy. Also thanks for popping my bubble about the lap times now I feel slow. Maybe it was just the heat.

CS creates a fever neither you nor i have felt in a while.... succumb, it's worth it. and i thought you looked smooth,balanced and fast

the issue is rollbar installation. the car is all alu; and F left the mounts off the US car.... one guy is doing it at a $$$$, skilled shop in PA, and IF it works it's 5K with risk to your car...
alu requires special drill bits and heli-arc welding ,,, lots of chances to f.k up your car. otherwise i would be openroadracing.com asap.... but it may be too much trouble, and we have a soccer conflict for Elko this year...

watt, you should check out some local race shops. I don't know any specific ones in So Cal but i'm sure there are some guys that build race car cages.
I used to build cages for 4wd vehicles. They're really not THAT hard to build. Any good race shop should be able to fab up a custom cage for you. I bet there are plenty of shops in So Cal that build the chromoly nascar cages. Aluminum is a pain to weld and has to be TiG welded, but any good welder with the right tools can do it. Just because the car is a Ferrari doesn't make it any more difficult to build a cage if the builder is skilled.
