That instructor is just crazy. Pit in: "thanks for offering the tips, do you have a blind fold?"

The Shenandoah circuit at Summit Point is in much better shape. I was talking about the main (first) circuit.

Its problems include:

(1) Washboard and torn-up track as you come into Turn 1 after the long straight.

(2) Turns 5 and 6 are torn up. You have to either have to hold right inside on the entrance to turn 5 or go way out to avoid the chewed-up tarmac.

(3) Holes (deep) after turns 7 and 9.

Hope this helps. Hey - Drew (sechsgang) - I will be at the Reisentoter (sp?)event at the end of this week, hope to see you and my old, beautiful car there!

Cheers- Gerry

Your first instinct was the right one!

Getting a good instructor is a crap shoot, just because they are an "instructor" does not mean that they know proper technique, line or the ability to communicate.
The reality is that driving is a hobby for most, not an avocation.

If you ever get the chance to get instruction from a Pro Level driver (one that gets paid to drive) club instruction will never be the same.

Im pretty sure that Gerry said that the woman just wanted a ride...I dont think it was her instruction...it was the fact that she somehow WAS an instructor and would participate in such activities while someone else was driving. Im pretty sure Gerry has some decent shoeing exp...haha

Again an open dialog about wants and needs of the student prior to getting in the car is key. Lastly, if you are not learning and not having fun, see the Chief Instructor! Most of the instructors are there close to free because you are picking up the tab.
+1 on reading the student and when they are ready to run the race line. My biggest frustration is an instructor who wants me to digress to the school line when I have been shaving seconds off my time working hard on a faster line. Or wanting me to run a line that is no good school or race. that is the difficult part. I will try in and at least confirm my thoughts or lean something new. but when I confirm then I stick with what works for me. I have not had any instructor problems and safety, I have encouraged instructors to sign me off.
