i had been looking around for a while. its a bit of a wild story, but probably like everyone looking for one, had spoken to 3,4,5 of the sellers/dealers/private owners. end of day, one of my concerns with buying that kind of car is ensuring that its mint, just right. i had come close to wanting to buy it from jamie a year or so ago but was concerned about patriotizing the car, etc.
but this time around i wasnt going to make that mistake again.
sweet ,sweet car.
its kind of wild, but one of the driving forces was absolute hate of the US banks right now. granted they upped FDIC, granted things have "calmed" for the very very moment.... i might lose a bit on that car, it might go up, but atleast im gonna have some crazy fun with it. i had no fun with my deposits at wachovia, just stress. and some marginal pocket change interest.

Congrats again. Take good care of it - who knows, if we don't get the house we're trying to buy, I may buy it back from you!
spg993tt, you have an awesome collection of cars. The P-car collection is top notch and your pony car collection is stellar. In my early years I owned a couple of 69 Z/28's and have always lusted for a Shelby. My hats off to you man!
thx a ton. that 69 z28 is probably my very favorite. its actually really drive-able, fun, loud. i spent good money to get everything just perfect. it was a matching car but during restore, the builder used a few time-incorrect pieces. for example, they had 3 different exhaust types durin that year...chevy...go figure. i spent money to put the smog control BACK on the car, to lose some horses, just to get it as it rolled off the line, but after a few months of cleaning it perfect, she is stock as she rolled out the door.
you line up ALL those porsche's and then the shelbys and the camaro...youd have 3 dozen passionate car freaks hovering over the shelby's and one or two flittering around the german machines. something about true blooded american machines from when we were a rising great nation, doors that clink, a lack of traction control or cars that car going 'ding ding ding' i fyou forget to put on your seatbelt or have your 20lb gym back in the passenger seat.... they are just so much fun. and, u almost never lose money on those older muscle cars....odnt make much , but u dont lose.
maybe my favorite is that white super snake. a real estate mogul guy in florida spent big moola to build it. i mean big stuff. shelby master engine builder, a featured 427, paxton superchargers, nos. 755 horsepower. thing is so loud you have to yell to speak to the person sitting next to you. not meant for daily driving. no ebrakel on design. thing is just built to haul and snap vertibrae. dude, spent 3, 4years and oodles of cash to put it together. just because he loves building cars. won a few shows with it. took it to a no reserve auction and lost the car at like 35% of what he paid for it. i bot it from that buyer for a smidgeon more. when i reache dout to the builder to ge tmore info, the dude was none to happy about losing that car at that price . love the white ghost.
Jamie, when im ready to lose that car, i'll let u know. problem is, i love that thing. what a beast. there are though, some nice ones out there. and i think they get cheaper. this economy aint "bailed out".
