Paint chips if not done properly. Powder coat is better

I agree. The painting process used by the factory on wheels is a whole lot more complicated than just a spray job. I had my street wheels powder coated in gloss black, and my track wheels from CCW are powder coated also. (by CCW)

No chipping or problems with either set.

I would like my stock wheels painted gloss black as well. Can you recommend where I can get mine powder coated.

Thanks.

So, the consensus is that just having a body shop paint the wheels in a booth, similar to other body panels, is insufficient?

Any good places in Southern CA that does powder coat?

Most people believe heating the wheels the amount required for powderocoating (400 degrees IIRC) is not enough to damage anything. After all rotors get hot enought to glow on the track and wheels are a big heat sink....
Curing a forged wheel at 400 degrees will have a very negative effect on the heat treating and should be avoided.
