Traqmate Coordinates
If I can't find a start/stop, I just hit the button when it says "looking for start / stop". I've had issues before with even track-provided coordinates, so I just set it first time at a new track anyway...
I am a new GT3 buyer. How well does Traqmate work? Does it update position fast enough to give decently accurate times? How much do they cost? Good source to buy one? Does it require some external antennae?
For accuracy, it is the gold standard.
For the full system +/- 1,000. See Traqmate: http://www.traqmate.com/
Seems to be prix fix.
It does require an external antenna.
Hope this helps.
Works well.

Would you mind posting a pic of your installment? I am planning on a TM and would like to see how you guys are installing the hardware. Did you mount the display on the steering wheel column?
And how do you get the track organizers to let you park on start/finish so you can calibrate? lol Is this going to become a new ritual at DE's?
Consider this a second request for a picture of the install, and a description of how well it works inside the car.

There have been dozens of threads here and at RennList showing installations (my own photos are included) as well as long discussions on operation, video integration, accuracy (3 sample rates so you can get extremely accurate), setting start / finish with a simple press of a button on your 1st warm-up lap, etc. Just try a search and all will be revealed.
Park?

No dude, just drive by. When you have everything setup all you have to do is press the big green button on the display unit as you pass the start finish. Sounds challenging, but is REALLY easy. You need to push it while on the driving line for the best results. Doing it in pit lane may mess up the data on some tracks so dont do that.
Mine has been accurate to the tee with AMB transponders give or take me missing the finish line by a few feet which can change the time a bit.
Sorry, I have been traveling. I dont know how to post pictures, pm me your email address and i will email it to you.
Adrift, see above post, happy to email it to you as well.
As mentioned in my last reply - photos and more info than you would ever want to read has already been posted about TraqMate here and more so at RennList. Hate to repost it all again - if you just search on "Traqmate" in the Racing and Drivers Education forum, you'll see it all. Nonetheless, here are the photos again - these were of my 997S, but I use the same installation on my 997 GT3. Takes about 5 minutes to set up and when I remove it, there is zero sign of any equipment, wiring, etc. Been using this method for 2 years and it works wonderfully. Cost for installation items, about $2.50 for double sided velcro strip (long). Antenna goes out the passenger window and I tape down the wire on the "leading edge" side.
Heavy Ideally you want a couple points on a GPS point in a row to get a good fix. Unless you have differential GPS which I dont know if Traqmate does. But it would be better GPS wise if you could get a couple seconds of GPS data on the same point.
I have no idea if it's differential or not, but it works with the driveby and I've never seen one person stop on the track during a session or parade laps to get the start/finish coordinates.
