Why? Porsche doesn't usually raise their prices much if any.

Holger B is infamous around these parts
I must be missing something here. I don't see how the cup car (which they pump out every year) has anything to do with a street version GT3? I'm sure Porsche will eventually sell a 997 GT3, but they likely haven't yet decided if it'll make it to the US.

I'm thrilled with mine, so it's irrelevant to me whether it ever happens or not.

Seen the prices on the 997's? I bet the next GT3 (a) won't be for 3+ more years, and (b) will be priced much higher than the current generation.

Isn't the base 997 about what the base 996 was? Wasn't the base 996 actually cheaper than the base 993 it replaced? The S model is a completely different animal - more comparable with the C4S.

Edit: Apparently Porsche did raise prices on the 997 over the 996 - by a whopping $700. So the same 1% increase on the GT3 should result in a base MSRP of more like $101k.

PS. I'll take that bet on the 3 year roll out of the GT3. I bet it's much closer to 1 year than it is 3.

2005 GT3 are based on the 996.

2006 GT3 could be based on a 997. From R&D it takes less time to release a GT3 than to release a Turbo.

Porsche had a 1999 GT3 (limited production) available in Europe just few months after they released the 996. The Turbo came 2 years after that.
