GT3 Recall

I was at my dealer today and was told that on Sept. 4th Porsche would be issuing a recall notice for certain GT3's. He said it was for replacement of faulty exhaust valve spring retainers. Has anyone heard of this or anyone dropping valves?

I wonder if this is something that applies to the newer non-964 type Spanish crank case cars...

Only the case was updated, nothing was changed in the heads. It could have been a bad batch of retainers from the mfg.

There are 12 US cars between VIN 270 & 285 affected. The job is 27.6 hours R & R the engine and the cam boxes and remove the heads. The fix is to install new caps on the exhaust valve springs. The ones on these 12 cars were not hardened properly and may wear prematurely. I had the tech read me the TSB it came out this AM.

I just got the VIN for my car, which I am supposed to pick up this week. The VIN is 286. How confident should I be that Porsche has the problem nailed down to the exact VIN?

From what I understand its only like 12 cars affected, spoke to the dealer and all is good here.

Hey Rockit, didn't you hear, the Spanish case is WAY WAY better than the old 964 case. Which one do you have in your car?? Adios Amigo!

Master of the inverted apex... ???

I like that!

I once described the location of my house, which was located just after a 90 degree bend in the road as "the point at which you would go off track if you early apexed the corner." My racer friends never had trouble finding the house after that.
