New addition to the family - :)
LOL yes Les is the Editor of European Car.. I remember reading VW&Porsche when I was in HS prior to it becoming European Car and he was on staff back then...... And I always said.. I wanted to do that kind of work.. While I didnt go the journalist route with my career, I have worked with some amazing people in the industry and he is one of the most passionate that I have had the pleasure to work with and learn from.
As far as the 996 GT3 goes........ Yes it is a bargain in todays performance car arena.
And it can be made much faster than a 997 GT3 for less than half the difference in price..
There is no doubt that the 997 is a more modern car and more civilized but the 996 GT3 along with the 996 GT2 are probably the last PURE Porsches made.
Dont get me wrong the 997's are more refined but they are not more RAW!!

Oh okay, I saw the name, figured you knew quite a few people in that world, and figured it was a photog because he taught you how to shoot.
That is very cool, and I always wanted to write for a car mag. You get to drive a new car every day/week, and test all the coolest cars. However, I say that your job is pretty sweet too.
Can't wait to see the end results of the gt3. I would be interested if you could post up some track time comparisons between this gt3, a 997 gt3, and any other projects/ customer cars you have.
sweet fabryce.... had both 996 ty and SY mk1 GT3, raw indeed. in fact the Gt3 was my default evening ride. traffic here horrendous so 'missy' our tt was day ride.
Query love the GT3rs voluptous rear wing and I figured i'd still be 'up' costwise retrofitting the rear wings and other mods without having to be too outré. are the front wings of the RS wider too? would I have to replace both or can I just do rear fenders and still tweak geometryo as to maintain present 4patch balance/handling parameters. thanks.
