New addition to the family - :)
Just thought I would share some pictures of the new addition to the GMG family of P-Cars..
Recently acquired 04 GT3..
As many of you know I have been searching for a GT3 for some time now as I was selling my BMW Speed Touring Car.. Black was not my first choice but this car did check out as a good clean car that was not molested..
The plan with the car will be to develop a dual purpose car that will be both fast on the track and still be able to be driven on street:
We will further develop or World Challenge line ( GMG WC) of performance products for the car.
Since the price of these cars has come down to an affordable range in the 55-70k range depending on condition we are seeing more and more of you at the track enjoying them as they should be.
So here is a list of some of the planned upgrades:
RS Orange accents- I will plan on doing the RS Orange trim and wheels.
Not trying to have an RS clone but just brighten up the car.. ( pics to follow)
Suspension upgrades:
GMG WC 996 GT3 direct replacement sway bars
GMG Dog Bone kit
GMG thrust arm bushings
GMG bump steer kit
Motorsport adjustable control arms
Safety will include
GT3 euro seats
GMG WC Cup harness bar with rear strut tower brace and extensions
Sparco harness's
fire system
Exhaust
GMG WC Sport muffler set- I will look into the development of a complete exhaust system that actually makes power...... Who knows it may end up exiting out the center bumper

(Full cup car cage possibly)
I am sure it wont be hard to convince myself to do this.
BBS Motorsport magnesium wheels ...
Stay tuned for pics of the build............. See ya guys at the track this year!! Cant wait!!

And a bunch more....... of upgrades..

As a relatively new owner of a 2004 GT3 I am thrilled to see that you are seeking to actively work on 996 GT3.
BRAVO to you for the car and to GMG for possible product development.

Would I be correct?
The gt3 looks great, and they really are a bargain now. At $65K its nearly a $50k saving over the 997 and with the savings I'm sure you can mod it to be faster. The only difference is the 997 is better looking (IMO), has a nicer interior, and from what I hear much more street friendly. But the 996 would be such a great track car.
LOL yes Les is the Editor of European Car.. I remember reading VW&Porsche when I was in HS prior to it becoming European Car and he was on staff back then...... And I always said.. I wanted to do that kind of work.. While I didnt go the journalist route with my career, I have worked with some amazing people in the industry and he is one of the most passionate that I have had the pleasure to work with and learn from.
As far as the 996 GT3 goes........ Yes it is a bargain in todays performance car arena.
And it can be made much faster than a 997 GT3 for less than half the difference in price..
There is no doubt that the 997 is a more modern car and more civilized but the 996 GT3 along with the 996 GT2 are probably the last PURE Porsches made.
Dont get me wrong the 997's are more refined but they are not more RAW!!
Updated pics to follow next week.!!
Here is a picture of its bigger brother which also resides in the family
