Question Sway Bar Settings

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the factory GT3 or GT2 adjustable sway bar settings?

In going from the end of the sway bar, say second hole from the end fronts, third hole from the end rear... or middle hole, etc.

Pictures would be great...

Cheers
Aaron

996flt6 is infamous around these parts
I believe factory setting is one off stiff front/back( my car came that way when new)-encourages safety envelope of understeer. outer holes is to make stiff inner holes to make soft. Mike

996flt6's inner and outer holes may be confusing...moving to a hole that is closer to the bar itself is stiffer and moving away from the bar is softer

So factory is second hole away from the bar? Pictures would be good.

this is the best I could do...front bar on a 996 GT3 and yes one from stiff would be 2nd hole away from the bar..with the stock droplink there is some preload so you may need a tool to tension the bar so you can move the link

Thumbs up Rear GT2 Sway Bar Settings

I found this for the 997 GT2 Rear Sway Bar, I'm guessing the 996 version would be similar. I will see if I can find more details.

Aaron, Looks like you are getting close to finishing your car. Are you going to be bringing the car to the track this year?

I can't speak to the GT2 but the 997-GT3 was rear full stiff (setting furthest away from the end of the bar). Front one back from full soft. (one hole in from the end of the bar) Full stiff is hole #3 in the diagram above.

Frank,
That is full soft. You're getting it backwards. The longer the bar is locked, the weaker the rigidity is, i.e, it flexes more.

I think he's correct; sounds like he was referring to the literal end of the "bar" (metal piece), not the end of the "bar" meaning the relatively straight horizontal piece between the holes. I think...

I'm working on it! Got the front bumper off to install my front splitter and laser diffuser at the moment. Also had to clean out the rads, yikes...

It was in a few weeks ago for a new RMS, intermediate shaft seal upgrade, clutch, and light weight flywheel installation. Next week I'll be doing the GT3 installation and replacing the Scnell short shift with a 997 OEM shifter.

Suspension will be starting very soon after and should have it all ready for May. Might be going on a vacation around then but hope to hit a few track events... with all the "sound rules" local I may join you guys on a few US events instead.

Cheers
Aaron

Hole # 3 above in the diagram is full stiff, that is what I was trying to describe. A picture is worth a 1000 words.
