I am in the market for another car, yeah weird timing huh? Anyways, I am trying to decide between an 06 F430 F1 or a 08 Gallardo Superlegerra E-Gear. I have never owned a Ferrari or Lambo, so want some opinions. This will mostly be a weekend car with track duty =)

G SL...
I love mine!
The ccb brakes are a bit grabby but I would get them again.
I have not tracked the car but it feels
stable as hell. And did I mention the sound...Awesome!
Plus look at it this way, it has already tanked a ton.
There are some dealers advertising new/er lower milage
cars. Might want to look around but overall, that's a lot
of car for the $$

I had a Laguna Seca Blue M3 too (your signature) and loved it. Very unique color. As far as your decision, with an asking price difference of $10k, I'd go with the prancing horse rather than the bull.

There's good reasoning why you dont see all that many Gallardos running in FIA and LeMans with tons of F430's. A buddy of mine was planning on racing a Gallardo in 2010 ALMS but during testing it had WAY to many issues.
My $.02. Test drive both. The manual gear box and rear wheel drive of the f430 is definitely going to be more involved and IMO thus more exciting. The gallardo is definitely more flashy and will be faster on the track, but IMO those who go to DE's to "win" them by trying to set the fastest times for pride/self reassurance/bragging rights/etc are foolish to put it kindly. Find what is most exciting to drive and never look back.
Looking forward to seeing you at the track!
The 430 is the better drivers car and on track will be the more satisfying option. As far as I have seen they are pretty bulletproof. In the GT3 class of Brit GT the Lambos were blowing their engines every meeting due to oil starvation although this was whilst running slick tyres.
Manual 430, slight lowering, HRE's and Robert is your mothers brother.

Carnerd,
I'm basing that on what I heard of the 360s. I guess they have improved their reliability since then? I was about to purchase a used 360 with 12k miles on it in 03. The dealer that had it called me the next day and said the whole electrical system was fried in it..

I tried both cars on a track in a corporate event (I track my GT3 almost every single weekend during the summer season here in Montreal) and there is absolutely no contest. The Lambo act as a tank with the worst break feel I had in my track experience... while the F430 is like playing with a playstation 3 ! No hesitation between these too choices... even if I would still go for a GT3 as a first choice !
p.s. The Lambo is more a show car if you like to parade on the streets really...

We had a 550 Maranello at the Porsche dealership I work at and I can't tell you how many things went wrong with that car... And they weren't cheap. Parts made by AUDI such as an electronic switch for the motor of the seat and it was $800.... Awesome Ferrari....
