How does the 997GT3 compare to 996TT? Ive always been a Turbo guy, But had a 05 Boxster and loved every minute driving it and interior was very well crafted and laid out.

A stock 996TT and 997GT3 are very close in a straightline but the GT3 will definitely have the advantage on a track. Also, the 997 in general has a much nicer interior than any 996.

Well said. I'd add that the natural power is a whole different ball game. The 996 and 997 GT3's offer high revs and screaming power you won't get from a Turbo or even a GT2.

Agreed, I'm a NA guy myself, never into making my own atmosphere.

I'm considering a GT3 as prior track cars are a 1998 Toyota Supra which was setup mainly for the track and a 2008 M3. My goal is track car first and street car second. I get mixed opinions about the 996 and 997 on the track. Some say the 996 is more track oriented and others who have driven both say the 997 is like night and day compared to the 996 - meaning superior and more forgiving to drive; therefore faster. Any experience and/or thoughts here would be great and thanks in advance.

I've owned a E46 M3 & have quite a bit of street time (limited track time) in a 997 Turbo & 997 GT3. The difference between the M3 and the Turbo or GT3 is dramatic. Not in the same ball game. Both the Turbo and the GT3 are incredible cars, but very different in character and feel. Both feel very fast, but in different ways. The Turbo feels refined fast; the GT3 feels visceral fast. The Turbo feels heavier (it is), the GT3 feels lighter and more nimble (it is). I would not have purchased a 996 GT3 for much street driving, where as the 997 GT3 is very street (read comfort) friendly in comparison. The recommerndation to respect the 911 handling on the track is a good recommendation until you get a lot of track seat time.

997 GT3 can do everything 996 GT3 can do on the track and a lot better on the street. If extra $40k doesn't mean much, I'd definitely get the 7GT3. For me, $40k seems a lot of money so I decided to get 6GT3 (two years ago) instead of 7GT3 and ended up spending the extra cash on track days for learning the car and modifications I need to learn quicker. Another ex E46/E36 M3s driver here.

if they truly have enough track mileage in 7 and 6 gt3, they will ALL tell you that 7 is better. it's slightly very very very slightly faster if you are a very good driver. otherwise, the driver skill will determine which car is faster. they are not night and day difference, but 7 is indeed better.
