996 conversion to 997 GT3RS (south america)
Im new to this site. Im 90% done in the conversion of my 996 to a 997 GT3RS. See pics below.. The project has taken 11 months, but all details are being worked AAA. I had to import all parts from the US. Questions welcome if any one wants to do this conversion.

I'm about to do the same thing...except 996 to 997 GT3 not the R version.......but I'm not touching the rear end....just going to put a fibre glass gt3 look rear bumber on.
any tips on fitting the 997 fenders?
spoke to a guy who said you just cut some of the 996 inner fender then weald the 997 fender straight on?

oultons911, the fenders of the front end need some special work. You need to flat down the inner rack and need to cut the fenders suing your 996 fenders to make them work. check this link. http://www.ladismantler.com/index.ph...em&inv_id=1315 This are pics of my car and the conversion process. If you need parts or more advice please let me know. This place in LAX, california can get all the parts you need. Ask for efren. I have tons of pics of the worked performed.
pics of the final car!
Here are pics of the 996 converted to 997 GT3RS. If any one needs advise on the work, advise on parts, feel free to ask. The project took 11 months, the car is inmaculate! You can hardly tell is a 996 car.. check this link for more pics and ask for Efren if parts needed in the phone listed in the link. http://www.ladismantler.com/index.ph...em&inv_id=1315

Labor is cheaper in south america compared to US or Europe, this makes the conversion easier, even though the parts are all OEM and shipped from the US to south america. And the exchange rate from peso to US dollar is not cheap at all.. The total conversion is 50% cheaper than importing a real 997 GT3RS to my country! . Thats a good clue.. jejeje
wow your car looks great.......I'm smiling from ear to ear as there were so so so many people i shouldn't be doing this conversion..........now i'm thinking I should do the rear as well!!!
Could you do me a massive massive favor.........I've ordered some parts new and some parts from a Porsche dismantlers.........these are the parts I have so far:
new 997 fenders/ used 997 hood inc hinges etc/ used GT3 front bumper with all vents, ducts and washer jets and fog lights/ 2 new side repeaters/ 2 new head lights/ bumper bracket shown in pic no. 86/ 997 head light trays / plastic strips that cover the inner fender seems and by the hood release section.
Is there anything else I will need?
could you possibly get me an exact list of what parts you used.......as I collect the parts this friday from the Porsche dismantlers and I'm sure there will be some brackets I didn't get!!!
I see there is a picture of the plastic surround that covers the windscreen wipers.......do you have to change this to a 997 version? Does the 997 hood hinges line up or do you have to weald the hinges to fit?
getting the fenders to fit right is my biggest concern.
I am going to get a price for rear fenders and bumper and do a complete conversion now as your car looks so great!!!
any help or advice you can give me will be great as hopefully I'm looking to start the project late next week.
thanks again you are possibly a life saver!
