gt3 clutch question
SubscribeI am thinkning of ordering a new gt3,but I have one big issue.I use the car daily and a lot of the time I hit some traffic.I sat in a gt3 when I bought my turbo a few years back and I noticed how heavy the clutch was,and it is a concern. So is there anyone out there who sells a 'lighter ' clutch or anyone who can adjust the clutch .Having got usesd to the clutch in the 997tt,997c2s and the r8 I see no reason why the clutch should be so heavy in the gt3.
The clutch in the 997 GT3 is great. Completely linear release, very consistent, not too "high" at all. When I go back and drive a regular car such as the Boxster or 997, the clutch seems too soft. I prefer the heavier clutch, much more mechanical and intuitive.

We have several options.. Call me and I will gladly get you up to speed on how and why the other cars have lighter feeling clutches.
I love the heavy clutch. It keeps my wife from wanting to drive it.

It's heavier yes but what you get is a clutch that you can modulate much easier, is much more linear and has a more direct feel than the lighter clutch of the Turbo (as others have mentioned). With the lighter clutch you lose these features which is part of what makes the GT3 a special driving experience. There's nothing for nothing. Originally Posted by franki68

If you spend allot of time in traffic it could be an issue but i don't think you can get the positive characteristics of the GT3's clutch if it was lighter.
I have a 996 TT which has a much lighter clutch and the difference is huge, the GT3's clutch is far superior.
You have to decide what's more important.
right leg gets lots o workout with brake and gas. so it makes sense to have a heavy clutch so your left leg gets some workout too. j/k. i like the way the gt3 clutch is. i used to think it's heavy but now i think other cars' clutch are just too soft and lacks 'feel'. in traffic, it doesn't matter whether you have soft clutch or not. it's going to be inconvenient either way. so, do your left leg a favor and give it some workout. get the gt3.
