Porsche Photo Contest

Porsche Photo Contest
Holding an amateur photo contest between members of 6speedonline. If anyone is interested in participating, email a photo(the one you think is the best) of your car to VolareInc@gmail.com. This is just another way to bring the 6speedonline community closer; get to know each others cars a little better. I understand that there is a gallery and members do have their own page with pictures of their car already, I just donĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t have the time to look through all of them, it is much easier for you to pick your favorites and send it to me.

1. Give a short description of your car and any additional information you wish
2. The location of the car, City and/or State. You may enter your name if you wish.
3. Please make the pictures 1600 x 1200 or larger if possible
4. The dead line for the contest is November 10, 2004, this should give you enough time to find a day with good lighting outdoors

Hints on how to make the pictures better. NoMercy has a few pictures posted in the 996Turbo/GT2 section; they are good pictures, but not enough light to bring out the true color of the car.

Are you going to post the entries on the web so people can see the entries?

I get the part where people email you photos, I guess I'm missing the part where this brings people in the community together (which is usually via these discussion boards).

Also, why 1600x1200 or larger? Perfectly fine photos for web viewing can be at smaller resolutions.

Yes, I will post the pictures on the forum so everyone can vote, I will figure out the best way for everyone to vote, and names will not be included, so votes will be based on the cars, not if you know the person.

curt, the only reason i think 1600 x 1200 would be good is because i think it would be fun to make a calendar with the top 12, so in order to get good pictures with the calendar, i would need big pics.

Is this calendar something that you print and and give away for free or sell to people?

Volare;

So you want members to post high res pictures of their cars so you can use the photos in your calender for profit?

OK.

desoto - I was going to give the money to the 11-99 foundation. Do you think I can really make a lot of money from selling a calendar with amateur photos, it's more for fun. But if you can make a business out of doing that, you should look into it, seems like a promising future.

The issue here is you're not really straight up with what's going on with the "contest" here until getting some questions posted. Seems a little sketchy as to your motivation.

You're talking about donating money to the following organization?

http://www.chp1199.org/

Good luck with your contest.

how about suggesting this idea when you get to about 700 posts instead of 17?

Volare (is that your car?),

I'm surprised you didn't list out the 5th criteria: make sure the license plate number is showing.

I don't think I'm going to go through with the contest because a lot of people seem to be really worried that I am out to steal cars. I don't need to steal any cars; I have a perfectly fine car, 2001 Tahoe. My brother is a Porsche owner and turned me on to the forum. I am into doing things for other people and thought that maybe some "rich" guys with Porsches would be willing to help, but maybe I did not think it out too well, my mistake, I apologize to all those who were worried. For all of you who think I am in this to steal cars, check out my web page, www.geocities.com/jc2169. The Tahoe, Yamaha, and Ducati are my, the Porsche is my brothers. Sorry if I worried anyone on the forum, I will not be coming to steal any cars, I just really enjoy Porsches and hope one day I can get one, by paying for it.

dpblessing, IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢m sure the amount of postings is what makes all the difference. If you are worried I just came on the site to locate some people so I can steal their car, you should look out, IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢m from Palo alto, IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢m at UCLA right now, but when I get back to PA, IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢ll be coming for you, watch out, your car might be in danger . Just kidding, sorry I donĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t have enough postings for you to take me seriously in my act to help out the CHP 11-99 foundation; IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢ll try to hit the 700 mark ASAP.

Pics

Volare;

As you have come to realize this board is made up of a close net group of enthusiasts. Most of know personally someone that posts to each thread. When someone new arrives on the board and immediately requests pics for a "calendar" it does raise some concerns. We do not mean to question your intent but other less scrupulous individuals who have traveled this path before you have had hidden agendas. As you become more active on the board, participate in our functions, and meet us face to face we will certainly share pics (with pride) and buy your calender.

Best Regards;

Desoto

Volare,

A long time member and a well respected one on this board is already organizing a calendar. Even then it takes a lot of trust on both sides to execute. There is much more to it that just submitting some photos and a few words.

As far as helping charities go, most people here have their own means and choices.

Maybe it was good intention on your part, but it was crude execution.

Maybe you can take pictures of CHP officers and their cars?
How about a calendar of CHP female officers?
