996 to 996 ALMS RS Clone - build pics enjoy

Here are a few pictures of a project in progress we have been working on for a client from Arkansas.

Car was shipped to GMG and we are building a RS clone from a 99 -996.

The goal was to build a fun reliable track car that could hang with GT3's.

Just goes to show with some careful planning a 996 can have a very fun and fast second life.

Enjoy!

I will post more pics as we continue on the project for now enjoy.

That is nice. Gives me something to look forward to with my 99 i just got. Will you use the 3.4 996 Engine? If so, what will be done to keep it from oil starvation on long right hand corners? I was told that there is a potential problem. Or is this just a myth? Thanks. Car looks great.

That thing looks sick! I guess it's now a cup car. He should have no problems hanging w/GT3s in that thing. What size (width) rims/tires will he be using?

Cheaper to just buy a factory race car that will hold it's value better.

Its not the cost of buying a cup car its the cost of maintaing it.

This customer elected to build a car since he had 80% off the parts already..

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I asked in the thread in the 996 section, but I shall post here as well. Where did you source the body parts? I have spoke to a local Porsche dealer and they looked at me cross-eyed. I have found a few kits but I am not sure they are the real deal.

Kit that I speak of: http://www.revozport.com/webpics/por...ar/page_01.htm

Oh! How would the cost of maintaining it differ? Unless, the parts your customer has are maintenance related.

Good work guys!

We have all the Factory Motorsport parts available through GMG... There are a ton of aftermarket knock of parts out on the market so be careful.
The factory parts are not cheap but they do fit ..

Happy to help if you need some guidance.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have poked around your site, but I did not see the same body parts shown in the this thread. You have everything else it seems. Where are they hiding?

This looks fantastic, I hope to go the cup car route in about 2 years. If I get a 996 cup I definitely want to go with the RSR look.

Awesome

Technically, this would be a GT3R, not an RSR, correct?
