Info on this 6GT3?

So, any info on this 6GT3? Someone on the board? It was built at Scargo...

And, how nice would it be with a certain 3.9 in it?

There are a few better deals out there for better equipped GT3's. Not a fan of the 19"s on it or the Turbo rear bumper.

amp, focal speakers, aftermarket head unit, lame crests on headrests, lame crests on pedals, extra piping trim on rear carpet around the gt3 logo, turbo bumper, 19s...

asking $70K

you are smart to ask about it and will be even smarter to visit RL and buy Martin Bishop's car which is the same color for $48K and does not have all of the BS listed above.

I'm looking for a donor car for Sharky's 3.9L. There are 2 potentials on Rennlist - one is also Basalt Black, has Motons, and is here in San Fran. The other is in IL with a host of mods. Both are asking high 50's. If anyone knows about these... please divulge.

PJS, I could not find the car you mentioned... please point me in the right direction if it is still for sale...

Here is the latest thead
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...il-2012-a.html

If I was in the market, this is the car

FWIW I do not know Martin other than as a RLer and never met him etc... no affiliation etc... $48K for a car that is set up and nice... with warranty etc. Just a no brainer

Actually makes me cry about paying $80K a couple years back...

$70k is comical, not even in the ballpark of what it's worth. I would know, I just sold mine. Also, from what I've heard about that dealer, I'd be careful of anything coming off that lot.

For local cars, probably can't go wrong with Potter's GT3.

Guys, forget the CA Motors car - it seems clear the owner did not track it LOL and it is local to me, so it may have been a good buy - I would have offered 45K if it checked out.

The 3 RL cars seem better, and 1 of them is local as well, so we'll see about those. If you have any other 6GT3 leads, please advise - and mileage is not so important as the motor is getting ripped apart.

I've driven Martin's car and it was very well put together.

The last 996 GT3 I owned (have owned 2 of them) was about the same price (~$70K) 2 years ago with under 5K miles on it.

This car seems overpriced, and the modifications don't make sense IMHO. You would have to add a front spolier for aerodynamic balance. Again, you can almost never recover the cost of most modifications at resale.

These are great cars, as the world seems to be now realizing (see recent EVO and Excellence magazine articles).

All components of the car degrade as mileage increases, not just the engine. Are you going to replace the transmission, upgrade the suspension? The notion of a 'donor car' is great in theory, but in practice, there tends to be a great deal of other work that will be required as well, and any aftermarket tuner that tells you something else is lying. However, I think that Alex 'Sharky' Ross is great and you can't go wrong with SharkWerks.

No worries, everything will be considered in the offer I make on the car I find... and I think I found the right one... It's not local though, and I have a bunch of travel coming up - hopefully it will still be available when I get back.
