To tint windows or not to tint windows on a Black GT3 MK2??
The previous owner of my GT3 had it tinted up and I ripped it all out once the car was mine. I gave it a few weeks to try to like it, but I hated how dark it was from inside, especially when turning or driving at night. The car looked mean but it was awful to drive with the tint. I'm really glad I removed it.
Prior to the GT3 I've been driving convertibles for the past 15 years, though, so just having a roof over my head is way more shade than I'm accustomed to. And it was crazy dark tint.

My GT3 had a Las Vegas owner and came tinted. I couldn't get it off fast enough. Especially if your going to track it, I vote NO.
I'm constantly amazed by the visibility provided by these cars. Get in and take a look around. You have an unobstructed view for almost 360 degrees. I've never experienced that in any other car. I think tinting takes away from one of the greatest design features of the 911.

I was joyridinh around the SF bay area last night and I noticed visibility wise it was really hard for me to see through the windows, and especially with the MK2 spoiler in the back. I'm straying to have second thoughts. Seeing cops behind you are my bigest concern, hahahaha.
One of the great things about 911's is that it's an amazing high-performance sports car, with upright seating and excellent visibility. It's one of a kind. Reducing the visibility with dark tint is like changing one of the fundamental values of the car. And to me, it cheapens a great design. All personal bias, and I don't even have a roof over my head most of the time, so I take open air driving very seriously.
I have had tint on every car I've had. All but one of my cars were black. Tint is a personal choice IMO. I've had 5% limo all the way around (except windshield) on each car, and will continue to do so. A friend has 20% all the way around, and during the day it's ok, but visibility is definately compromised at night, and I wouldn't call it a light tint. With my limo tint, it's hard to see out at night, but your eyes adjust and get used to it after a couple weeks. I see you're in the Bay Area like me, be prepared to get pulled over if you go anything darker than 35% on the front (CHP do not like these). If I had to guess I would estimate I have gotten at least a dozen tint tickets over the years, all but one coming from Marin county. I have never had trouble in San Fran or the East Bay. In most counties it's around $130-$180 fine if you don't get the tint taken off. Anyway, regardless of your tint decision you have a gorgeous car enjoy in good health. Maybe I'll see you around Santana Row, I'm in the area every weekend.
that was my logic... :P
