Superleggera or GT2?
Superleggera or GT2?
I'll probably be picking either one of these in the next few months, a frd of mine is asking me to take over either one of his cars....
I've already got a whole family of porsche.... getting the top of the line 997 should make perfect sense.... me and my bro has been wanting a Lambo in the family for quite some time already, but my parents and sis thinks a Lambo is just too flashy( i guess they are just old), and they just want more porsches.... for me, I just think we already have too many porsches and a GT2 is just a big waste on HK roads
I've never driven the Gallardo yet, but for the short time I driven the GT2... all I really felt it was just a much higher torque and power version of the GT3RS.... so I could easily adapt to driving it on normal HK roads...
not sure how much more raw a Superleggera would be... or if it would be much tougher to drive on normal roads...
what would u guys choose? I really can't choose between it, I want BOTH, but could only choose one....
btw, who ever is paying for the car is not a big matter on decision... cuz we are just gonna write it off as company expense

you should really pick it up...SL are going for great great price right now. u can find a fully loaded one with low miles(under 3k) for under 140k
That's a tough decision. If you are planning to track the car then Superleggera would be the choice but GT2 otherwise. GT2 is a great car for the track as well but it takes more skill to master a beast like AJag's GT2. I personally would go for a GT2 especially after seeing AJag's black beauty and the amount of power it has would surprise you even from a GT3RS which is already a great car. In addition, Porsche has much better warranty support as well as more reliable even though Superleggeras are pretty reliable but it is always a hassle to get warranty work done (not to mention how many dealer network there is available). If you like attention than go with a Lamborghini but sometimes attention is not a good thing. Good luck with your hunt. Happy Holiday!
The GT2 will not excite you as much as the SL will. Especially not when you already own several P-cars, the interiors are almost the same across the board. Power alone is easily added to any of the P-cars.

I'll be selling the RS for sure.... but I doubt i'll take neither one to the track tho... if it was a LP560, it would've been an easy choice.
its a pity that this car will be hardly driven. it will never be able to show its potential on HK roads.... hell even my E46 M3 could hardly go over 4000RPM or it becomes too quick for the roads LOL

The upright seating position, large glass area and overall visibility make the Porsche a much more reasonable car for street driving than the SL. I haven't been to HK for a while, but I doubt there is a lot of wide-open driving, and so traffic, small tight roads, heavy traffice, streets and intersections will make the mid-engined SL, with very tough side/rear vis, a hassle.
Maybe I just sound too practical, but having driven a Gallardo (not an SL), owning a Ford GT and a 997, the 'supercar you can drive every day' value of the GT2 would sway me.

Driven the SL before and sat in a friend's GT2 ard the track
Both are great cars.
Pros for SL :
Robust wif great equipment and nice touch of the CF bits
Intoxicating sound
AWD traction advantage
Cons for SL :
Dont like the brake feel. It's all or nothing kind..
Cog changes bit noisy as if the components are bout to fall apart
================================================
Pros for GT2:
You can mod the helluva the car for the power without sacrificing the reliabilty and durability. It's incredible machine.
RWD fun
No CF side skirts for you to break
Needless to say bout the brakes, Porsche's KING.
Cons for GT2:
Manual, so u hv to work ur legs if u dun mind in heavy traffic city like HKG
Nothing else.....
For me, I am RWD person and I love manual stick shift car but I am a strong advocate of diversification so SL for me and I will learn to love the brakes

The new (991/998) GT2 is going to be launched soon. Carbon fiber body panels and sequential transmission, Peich (VW's boss) says it will be priced the same as the 997 GT2. Close to Carrera GT performance figures - 2900 lbs and 600+ bhp.
Still, if you want to buy now, I would get the SL, FWIW.
