Is the 997 gt3 for me ?
Is the 997 gt3 for me ?
Just got rid of my 2008 Zo6, So its time to find a replacement. Im considering a 997 gt3 new or used , a used 997tt, or a new nissan GTR. I really loved the power that my zo6 had and the growl of that 7.0L v8. I had a set of coilovers on it and the thing handled amazing. I decided it was time for a change though. So does anyone have any input on how the gt3 will drive compared to the zo6. My brother has a 04 turbo cab that is a very nice car, but its very loose and i dont love how the power is delivered. I have driven a 997 gt3 about 2 years ago and remember it being amaizng, but that was a while ago and before i had the zo6. I also drove a few GTRs for a short ride, the car was very fast, handled unbelievable for the size but it felt like you were not driving the car, but it was a blast to drive. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks

Funny, I owned an 07 zo6 for 2 years, loved it. Went to a GT-R, lasted only 4 months. Fast as anything, but very borrring.
Opted for an 07 GT3 and have to say that it has the visceral feel of the Z06, with a high quality edge the z was lacking. Blast to drive at slower speeds which the gtr wasnt. And it sounds sick.
Chose it over a 997tt and am glad I did. I think the tt is closer to the feel of the gtr. Did I mention how sick the gt3 sounds?

I had an '08 ZO6, and an C5 ZO6 before that, and had a lot of track experience with both. If the engine had not blown, I expect I would still have it, despite its shortcomings, which are generously discussed on every forum. It is a great car for the money.
On a track that allows a hp advantage, the ZO6 is simply faster, no doubt. And once learned, its handling is very good too. The feel of brakes, steering and suspension is much better in the GT3. I personally find it more fun than the ZO6. Its communication lets you drive near the limit with more confidence. The ZO6 would be my choice as a daily driver, and it is certainly more cost efficient to own. If you value handling and feel as a priority, I think you would enjoy the GT3. It does not have the same level of power, so if that is your priority, maybe not. Also, I don't know about your local Porsche community, but there is sometimes an elitist attitude that I find offensive. And frankly, I probably have more car/track buddies in the Vette and BMW groups, but that's just my situation. I don't see a bad choice for you. Have fun!

I do plan on going to the track but not too often, possibly a few times a year. I have a cayenne GTS for when the weather is bad. Mainly going to be for some fun driving on the street, and to make every Morning a fun way to make my day better!
