2 Year Service on My 997.1 GT3, What Should I do?

Car has 8500 miles on it, had its one year service. Originally the Service manager told me I need to change the brake fluid and an oil change. Then as I am about to leave says I need a major service including changing the spark plugs. What are you guys letting the Service dept do on your 2 year service with a low miles on the Car? Thanks in advance.

Brake fluid every 2 years is a smart move, more often if you track it.

My issue is do I need to do a major service on the car with only 8500 miles?
I don't have a problem with an oil change and brake fluid, just can't see changing plugs and other filters etc.....

If you only street drive it I would say no. If you track it maybe. In this recession the dealer may be trying to pad his bottom line at your expense. What does the owner's manual say about service intervals?

I have been told that if the plugs are dirty, then replace them. If they are clean leave them in. You should change the air filter, the oil, and the brake fluid.

If you are concerned about costs, I am sure that there are indi shops that will charge a reasonable price.

If I didn't have a CPO until 2014.....
What I'm looking for are you guys paying for a major service at 2 years or just changing the oil, brake fluid, and maybe the air filter on your car if it has less than 12,000 miles?

Not doing the recommended service in a timely manner could void your warranty.

MixedMac is right!

I called the dealer who CPO'ed the car and all I need to do for my 08 is the oil, oil filter, cabin filter, brake fluid.

Unfortunately my area dealer wanted $1800 for a major service.

Thanks for all you help.

Cliff

$1800???!!!

that is outrageous! I just did all of that myself with parts very minimal cost.

9 quarts Mobil 1 $6/each
1 Porsche Oil filter $15
1 Porsche Filter Wrench $50
1 Cabin Filter $45
2 L ATE Super Brake Fluid $25

Total Parts Cost $189

All sourced from local Kragen/auto store/Suncoast Porsche

Very easy to do, just need a bit of time.

Let me know if you have questions.
