Honest opinions please
the gt3 is a like a powerful drug... it is truly, truly addictive. don't waste your time debating this over the internet... jump in one as a driver (or passenger), and you'll be hooked... heck, if you can't test a 997 gt3 readily, find a 996 gt3 as a good sample appetizer... i'm sure the neural effect will be similar...
also, the gt3 and the stock cayman s will feel different (mid vs. rear engine) and will ride differently (stock cayman s is softer and more forgiving as mentioned, vs. a near race car, scapel like feel for the gt3). no comparison.

Russian. Just to give you an idea of how much GT3 guys love their cars...
I was asked what's the next car I would buy in a high end dealer survey. Given a budget of $150,000. I answered: "nothing, just a few minor mods to my car and I'm all set"
The GT3 will spoil you. You may not find other cars that will satisfy you the same way (and for the same price).

You really need to drive one. There are Gt3's out there with less than 1,000 miles on them for sale. The reason? They were bought by people who, once they actually drove them, didn't want them, for one reason or another. Too loud, too fast, too low, etc...
I have a deposit down for a Cayman S (the mythical lightweight one), but I made the mistake of driving a 997.1 GT3 . I was shaking when I got out of the car. So was my wife. After the drive, I said the car was too raw, and that it was too much for me. She told me to sleep on it, and the next day we both agreed we wanted one. The car really makes your blood flow.
Drive one. Sleep on it. You'll know if it is right for you.

I bought one with not even a doubt in my mind thats its the right car...I live down in NJ beautiful roads to rip and on top of that I have an Apartment in NYC with potholes at every inch...I was originally looking at an Audi R8 and I realized its just a car thats for show, and not true loving performance... The Gt3 is the most mechanical, driver involving car... you will bond to this thing more then a loved one...the sound, essence, and driving experience will make the girls in your car orgasm..... Its a one of a kind Porsche BUT only for REAL Enthusiasts.. So make sure your going to be ready for this beast
Not to sway your decision, but if money is a stumbling block you can always pick up the Cayman S and when you get bored of it - Turbo charge it for $15K. You'll have a kick *** car ~$50k that many will not be able to touch in terms of performance.

I can only imagine, every time I see one the guy drives it like a grandma. The motor is what my biggest attraction to this car 3.6 flat 6 415hp creaming to 8400rpm, I love high revving motors

The only problem with that is I don't like turbo's and like the others said including Porsche "Theres no substitute" even in their own line up. I'm pretty sure my mind is final on a GT3, a drive in one is a must, so I gotta look around see what I can find for a drive
