Best handling production car tests
We don't see enough of these types of tests in my opinion. I recall seeing such a test conducted many years ago by Autocar magazine, and thought it was fantastic.
Is anyone aware of group tests of this nature that have been published in recent times?
What car do you guys feel can claim the title of "Best handling production car of all time"?
I often wonder if there isn't any way one can apply a "formula" to neutralise for any advantages purely due to straight line speed on lap times...
I suppose measuring mid-corner speeds and G's could be a good way of assessing handling, but why is this not done more regularly in lap time analysis? e.g combine the 2 factors mentioned above for all corners/bends of a specific track and then score accordingly... ?

Motor Trend magazine did such a test a couple years ago: http://www.motortrend.com/features/1...car/index.html
People here will be happy, but not surprised, to know that the GT3 won this particular shootout.

I like that idea. How about a test were the top straight line speed is limited to the top speed of the car with the least hp. This will help Lotus, GT3's when compared with the Vipers and Corvettes.
