There, is that better? If you have ever floor jacked a pcar you would know as stated by Mercedes Benz that even if you lift from the front jackpoint it will lift that whole side of the car since the chassis is so ridged. Allowing you to put a jack stand under the rear. Or you can lift from the rear cross member. There are fuel lines and coolant lines underneath as well. Don’t lift off those, that would be bad, or maybe not in this case.

yep. You enjoying the new toy btw?

And as to lifting the car from the engine as on that one thread 58spdstr listed. They were doing that becuase they were supporting the engine while replacing engine mounts. The engine and mounts are not designed to support that amount of weight (they can but they shouldn’t). Its like lifting up a baby by its head. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean its the right way.

Yeah, I remember seeing or rather hearing first, your 996 gt3 on Elliott ave awhile back. It sounded mean! ASP as well right? Make sure to blast by in the new car so I can get a good sound bite to compare. Our shop has been kind of slow lately so Its a lot of standing around and watching the cars go by. I see Ben drive by in one of his many black beauties almost every Saturday.

Its Elliot on Elliot Ave right after Harrison if your heading north. It looks like a hole in the wall little shop but you would be surprised what type of cars we get in. Just the other week we were re-powder coating wheels on a Maserati Gransport. We get in a fare share of pcars too but the bulk of the business is daily driver average joe cars. Full service though. Everything from engine R&R’s to oil changes and tires. So if you ever need any work done on your DD or some parts for anything else, just pm me and ill see if I can get you the 6speeders discount .

That's what I was thinking.

For the last 10 years I've been carefully jacking the car up from the rear jack point until a jack stand could go under the the front jack point. I'd also place a jackstand under the same side rear suspension crossmember and then carefully lower the car while checking the positioning. I'd then go to the opposite side of the car and repeat the process.

Have I been just lucky so far in that I've never had a scary moment?
