Proper sway bars setup

Hi,

I am changing suspension on my 997 C2 into somewhat mix&fix from GT3 - could anybody advice on best track configuration of sway bars using 8/11kg JIC coils or similar.

Should I use stiffest position on rear sway bar in combination 2nd hole from softest on front or stiffest front as well?

On a last run I had rear GT3 sway set on stiffest position with stock C2 front sway bar but it seemed to be an overkill, medium hole was more or less adequate. I am putting front GT3 sway bar as well now so just want to check here with GT3 folks what the common practice is to have it setup to balance out understeer. camber currently is -2.5 front -2.3 rear.

Depends on your driving style, track, tires, and the rest of your setup. For me, I run 315s in the rear and 245s in the front - rear bar on full stiff, front bar close to the middle [or one stiffer].

There are a lot of variables.. A lot has to do with your current spring rates versus how you want the car to act. Is there a shop near you that could properly set the car up? Maybe Spencer from Ex Farnbacher?

Like I said - front camber -2.5, rear .3 off at -2.2, front toe 0, rear toe .10, run on hoosiers 245/295 on 8"/10" rims with hot pressures 40psi front and 42psi rear usually adjusting rear by 'feel'.

i had rear GT3 bar installed first with with stock C2 bar in front and GT3 bar in rear is ws too much disbalance so I finally put front GT3 bar now (just got it) and want to check on setups. So essentially rule of thumb is to start with rear stiffest and mid-holes on front, right?

I am still at 'learning my car' stage so I prefer to experiment myself with all this stuff to understand better how it all changes in what conditions.

2 nearest to me are jerry pellegrino`s shop and bill phister`s shop, both can do proper setups but I just want to figure it out by myself to some degree.

I have an ex Koni 997 Koni car so my car weight may be alot less than yours, but I run the same tires at 38 front and 40 rear.
Run front bar full soft and rear bar one off full soft.
I also run some JRZ coil over dual adjustable shocks with fairly soft springs.
My experiance has found any time I run stiff springs or stiff sway bar the car really pushes alot, especialy when you are trying to put down some power exiting turns.

At last run when I got rear sway at full stiff I got same problem and partially remedied that with keeping front at 40psi and rear at 38psi.

I hope now with GT3 bars in front and rear it should be remedied. will see.
