Just ran the car in and got the oil changed a few days back..started to take the car to the redline...

I swear it wasn't there but today I noticed when slowly reving the car at around 4500rpm there seems to be a raspy sound but it quickly goes away once u hit about 5000rpm.

Any other RS owners notice this? Or is my muffler cracked or is a clamp loose?

The sound is getting louder and more pronouced as the days go by...anyone here experiencing the same issue and have a fix for it?

hmm...sounds odd. I would say have it checked for a leak have the exhaust valves checked out. That said, I havent been around a 997.2 gt3rs yet...just the normal 3. Didnt ever hear anything in that though...

Check the valve actuation and make sure they're working right. When only one side opens there will be some rattle for sure. Other than that just look underneath for possible cracks and/or damage. With track use I've seen the center muffler fail but that was in stainless form but it still could happen. It's the back side of the center that i've seen crack before.

Hey alex...I have a feeling it's the valve...had a similar problem with my 430...hope it's e muffler so that I can send it back for a warranty claim and still enjoy your bypass system that's on the way hehe

Its amazing how that works isnt it?

That said, if you like the kind of dynamics the gt3 provides, do yourself a HUGE favor and find someone with a 63 black series to drive...it will blow your mind that mercedes ever made a car like it. You wont find a car like your rs or the black series thats road legal but has the true dynamics of a racecar anywhere else.

Just to keep guys updated ...cause of the noise is due to the center titanium muffler...sent it in today and they found a crack at the bottom of the muffler..2 weeks old have yet to track it yet and it's already cracked. Sign to fit those bypass pipes I guess hehe...can't wait..I'm expecting them to arrive tmr..

that kinda stinks man. But I am glad you found the problem. I would be interested to see if any others have this issue. That all said, gift in disguise...those bypass valves will be nothing short of amazing.

Bro, is the exhaust in yet? I would be surprised if Stuttgart agrees to put it in without voiding your warranty.
