Another Daily Driver - GT3 question re: roof rails

What year/ model did the GT3 lose its imbedded hard-mount points in the roof rails?

I've seen 2010 does not have them and have seen an 06-07(?) that does. Was it basically 997.1 did, 997.2 did not?

It may seem a strange question but I ride a lot and my bikes are atop my 997.2 S frequently. Strangely (for some) this was one of my biggest criteria when deciding on my current car. (R8 did not, GTR did not).

Thx

I have no idea, but I must state that this question is perhaps the most indicative of how wonderful the 911 platform is. These cars can just do it all...amazing stuff.

Best of luck. I'd get a 997.1 RS in green or orange.....if I had the funds. I use my TT as my DE and DD too....

I think the roof is too thin on the 997.2 to support anything on it.

When was the last time you saw a Racecar with a roof rack? IMO the GT3 is a Racecar you can drive on the road. Having a roof rack on it just does not seem right.

gt3 is a road car that can be raced, not a race car that can be on the road.

So wait a minute..... I own a GT3 by choice and cannot carry my bike on the roof because, oh, it's a "racecar". Right.

I could understand the previous response where Porsche may have intentionally left out the mounting threads of the 997.2 GT3 as to save some weight to make it more race car'sh, but it is not a race car.....

Now if I DID own a "race car", since it would not be street legal, I'd have something else to tow it with, and could carry my bikes.

"Racecar" "Trackcar" "Sportscar" whatever, is not the point. A roof rack with a bike, on top of a GT3 , IMO is just not cool. Sorry.

If it's your car, do whatever you like with it. At the end of the day, other people's opinions don't matter.
