Thick Alcantara Steering Wheel- part number

i saw a beautiful new GT3 RS on the showroom floor at Circle Porsche in Long Beach, CA and it had the thicker steering wheel on it. I've had a hard time locating one in the past and i got the part number. see below

997-347-803-71-A34. Cost is $714.00

They are back ordered two months but I plan on getting one.

By the way, the car on the floor was white with black wheels and decals. it had all the options on it and stickered at $174k. In case anyone is looking.

Happy New Year.

Are you sure that's not the upgrade price (plus the cost of the steering wheel)? When I ordered my car with a thicker multi-function steering wheel is was over $2K...

I'm on vacation right now so I don't have exact info in front of me...

This is not a multifunction steering wheel - no buttons or controls on it. Hence the lower price.

I think there is some confusion on this topic. The thicker Alcantara steering wheel on that RS at Circle Porsche is option # CLA. It cost $1295 additional dollars and you get it instead of the 'thinner' Alcantara wheel with yellow band at 12 0'clock, which is already standard on that model. When several months back, a Rennlist member that owns a .2 gt3 (non-RS) tried to order one, he was told by PCNA that thicker RS Alcantara wheel with the Yellow Ring at 12 o'clock will not be sold to anyone that doesn't already own a .2 RS and can prove it by giving them the proper VIN number & proof of ownership.

Just recently I asked Suncoast about it and they referred me to their website:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...de=2010gt3_alc

When I asked them specifically if their RS steering wheel (for $1195 without airbag) was exactly same as Option CLA in .2 RS, they were less certain. Also note black spokes are now seen on most MY2011 while the silver spokes are common to the early production of MY2010. To solve the mystery, someone has to order one and see if we are talking about the same exact wheel. If exact, it would have made more sense for owners to get their RS with standard thinner wheel (save CLA at $1295) and order the thicker version at $1195 afterwards, and have two wheels instead of one!

There are similar thicker Alcantara wheels from Porsche for other models (e.g. Boxster Spyder) but they do not come with the yellow band at 12 o'clock. Also remember that even the .1 and .2 gt3 steering wheels do not come with a yellow band at 12' o'clock. Only the RS gets them!

And it has nothing to do with lack of multifunction. None of the gt3 ever had multifunction on them! z356

i just recently bought one from Suncoast for customer. it does not come with the yellow band (not a big deal). if u need to get the one that's in the RS with the yellow band u do need a VIN to order but not require proof of ownership.

the part number posted above seems to be way cheaper than what it is. i'm not sure what is it but i'll call to find out tomorrow. i'm looking to get the new GTS steering wheel. i believe that's also thicker as the thicker steering wheel.

Sarum87: have you confirmed the p/n matches up to what you saw/described here?
