2007 gt3 ppi
Hey if the EasyCare deal is easy to deal with cool, welcome to the GT3 side.....what color car? Have the dealer do the PPI and get all info from the VIN from your friendliest Service advisor
Porsche CPO
vbmw335: My understanding (in US) is that CPO from Porsche can only be done by a Porsche dealer if he has title to the car. So he would have to buy it from you and then sell it back to you in order for him to CPO the car if you decide to do the 'Certification' after purchasing it now. Given sales tax considerations and additional 'transaction fees' dealer will request for that intermediation, that option normally doesn't pencil out.
For your information, Porsche only charges approx. $2000 for Certification. There is an additional charge by dealer for the qualifying multi-point inspection, which usually doesn't cost more than $250. And if the car has over certain # of miles in use and/or tires show any 'excessive' wear, Porsche CPO guidelines will probably force dealer to put new tires all around, which is an additional expense to you. The 'Extended' coverage is for 2 year (after original 4 year period expires) and up to 100,000 miles (from original 50,000). CPO is transferrable to new owner if he/she is a private party, but perhaps goes away if you traded in to any car dealer. The advantages of CPO (over third party) is the perceived 'security' of Porsche extending the warranty, which might have some value in re-sale or for current owner's 'peace of mind'. But remember that Porsche is not the most 'generous' warranty provider, even during the initial four year period, as evidenced from the many rejected claims for RMS.
I am currently considering buying from the original owner a '07 Porsche with six months left of factory warranty. So I am pondering what my options are re: an extended warranty. Mercedes Benz, for example, allows original owner to buy a similar extended warranty directly from them. And I was able to do this for my '07 MB CL600. Porsche does not, which is a shame. Otherwise, original owner of this Porsche could buy the extended warranty first and then I would buy car from him to obtain the transferrable extended coverage. Since that is not a possibility, I am currently exploring third party warranties like 'Easy Care' if I decide to buy this '07.
Best of luck with your purchasing experience! z356
