8 lbs. is not heavy for a street car hood, which needs some structure to avoid use of hood pins. Moreover, KMR will not sell real race-weight carbon-kevlar to street guys for obvious reasons (like, they don't want a phone call from your lawyer when the part flies off on the freeway). I have used their carbon hood, and it's a great piece-- for a dedicated race car.

Actualy 8lbs is light for a street hood from my findings....most are 10 to 14 lbs.

Will the 8lb hood work without pins at high speeds?

Your hood is the way to go....true Carbon fiber.. reinforced kevlar.

I wish we had a choice with the RS here.
