Tires gt3rs
You can drive them on the street, but they aren't as good in the water as one would want for DD purposes. If you plan on driving the car daily I would replace the cups with something else.
R Compound tires of any make are sensitive to heat cycles. Each time they heat up and cool down is one cycle. They get there stickiness from the special blend of materials used. Sport cups are DOT street legal, only so they can qualify for specific class of race. Every time you heat cycle the tire you effect its stickiness. If you track your car you can expect them to last between 20 and 30 cycles before they need replacement.
In otherwords, get a set of street tires for your car ad a DD. Cups are great tires for HOSE, but not for the road.
I've had them for three years. And get a new set every year.

I had them on a previous 996TT. They lasted just about a year, not a daily driver and some track/autocross. They are fine for the street, with the exception as noted for the water/rain issue. They are really sticky and will track small grit and rocks into your garage as you roll in, so you know they have "stiction". I must admit to being a trifle nervous about them on longer trips. I belong to the local Porsche Club Region and we did a wine tour and a tour out to Death Valley and back on them.....not a problem. Again, NOT recommended for rainy locales.
